South Shore Mother's Day by the Beach

They have an extensive kids menu - which includes grilled cheese and mac and cheese...2 kid faves!

Upcoming trip for non-seafood eater!! Please help

:) point well taken about having a reservation!! We are staying at the Ritz for 2 nights and the third night is at the Roosevelt (Ritz sold out on the third and last night of our stay). All conference activity is at the Ritz.

South Shore

I will second the Saporito's recommendation - it is my favorite restaurant in the area...a little kitchsy in the decor but the food is fabulous - don't be alarmed by the exterior either! I would also recommend Cafe Tosca, Square Cafe, Scarlett Oak, La Dalat (hull) Oro (in Scituate), Hola (marshfield) and Sintra (braintree). Circe's Grotto (North Scituate off 3A on the cohasset/scituate border) for breakfast sandwiches and lunch is wonderful as well - not to mention that the cookies are to die for! Weinberg's bakery in Hull has great pastries and sandwiches too. We've got it pretty good compared to some other suburban towns!! Still doesn't match the city, of course!

I third that suggestion...there is also a playground across the street from the carousel that you could go to as well if the weather is cooperating.

Upcoming trip for non-seafood eater!! Please help

Hi - my husband and I will be visiting New Orleans for the first time in mid May. Looking for some good dining suggestions given the fact that I do not care for seafood...I can eat it but don't love it by any means (sad, I know...especially coming from a New Englander!). We need to plan a dinner for Wed and Fri night and need some suggestions for where to go after one of my husband's conference receptions (they serve light food and drinks but we are not sure how long we will be there so not sure if we should make a reservation somewhere or just try to go to a place that doesn't take reservations). Thanks in advance!!

Looking for a good dinner option for a larger group (20-30) that can accomodate kids too

We will be taking a duck tour in the late afternoon (July) and are looking for a good restaurant to go to after with our large group...mostly adults but some kids. Would like sit down service and we are open to any price range (usually restaurants that are kid friendly are not overly pricey anyway!) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

early Sunday brunch for a party of 14 - must be child friendly!

We went to Union last Sunday on the recommendation of another friend and we were less than impressed. It looked so promising but didn't deliver. First, we arrived right at 10 for our reservation, sat down and ordered within 15 minutes. We did not get our food until 11am! That is a LONG time to wait...especially with kids. The OJ was fantastic but the coffee cake tasted overcooked and stale. My french toast was undercooked in the middle - felt like I was eating soggy bread. I wanted to love this place but didn't..

Thanks everyone for taking the time to post - I'm going to try the other places listed too.

George's at the Cove with kids?

I will definitely keep looking for ideas on Chowhound - thank you so much.

We are staying at the West Inn and Suites in Carlsbad for 3 nts and then the Homewood Suites Liberty station (the suite thing is key when you have 3 kids!) for 3 nts - although I am tempted to stay at the Hotel Del since it's featured on Snique Away today and seems like a good deal...

And yes, we'll have a car.

I truly appreciate your time - thank you!

George's at the Cove with kids?

So the rooftop cafe is all outdoors? Is that what they refer to as George's Terrace? As far as appropriate goes, I just don't like to bring children to places where they are clearly not welcome (which is absolutely fine) because it makes the whole experience uncomfortable. If a restaurant does not have high chairs then it is pretty clear to me that children should not be dining there! Thanks!

George's at the Cove with kids?

Hi - We are heading to San Diego from Boston with our three children (8,5 and 3) and looking for some good places to eat. One place that keeps coming up in the reviews I have read is Georges. Can anyone tell me if this is appropriate for children? Thanks!

early Sunday brunch for a party of 14 - must be child friendly!

Yes, 12:30 show on Sunday - under $20 per person would be ideal.

early Sunday brunch for a party of 14 - must be child friendly!

Hi - I'm looking for a place to have a good brunch before the seeing the Big Apple Circus at City Hall Plaza. We will have 8 adults and 6 kids (including one who will need a high chair). Doesn't have to be within walking distance to City Hall Plaza - we are driving in and can drive from one spot to the next. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for a great restaurant for a small company holiday dinner - probably btwn 15-20 people

Need some recs for a great dinner place for husband's company dinner - must be in Boston - no chinese or predominantly seafood.
Thanks!

Lunch and Dinner while driving from Santa Barbara to Dana Point? Please help...trip is coming up very soo

Just checked out Huntington Gardens...love it and was so excited to have tea there but unfortunately they are closed on Tuesdays! oh well...how far would this be from Dana Point if we wanted to go another day? Any suggestions for a meal by myself while in Dana Point? My husband has a dinner reception on Thur night and I don't have any interest in going (nor do I want to shell out $295 to be able to go to that dinner and a breakfast at the Ritz).

We'd like to check into the hotel by 8 on Tuesday. THanks!

To be honest, I haven't even thought of how we would drive down there...we'll probably go with ocshooter's suggestion of taking the 5 unless I can be convinced to take the longer route on the PCH... Also, we will be in SB from Sat afternoon until Tues...already planning on La Super Rica for lunch but maybe we'll have to lunch there twice!! Since we'll be in the car most of the day I'd like to go somewhere casual for dinner...We pretty much like all cuisine except I am not a big seafood fan and neither of us care too much for Vietnamese food...other than that we are good with anything.

Tuesday...also, how long would it take if we drove straight through? Not that we are planning that but just wondering how far it is??

Looks perfect for a nice casual outdoor dining experience - thank you so much! I now have Stonehill Tavern, 230 Forest, Mezzaluna and Break of Dawn for breakfast on my list! I'm going to do a separate post for this but while I have your attention :)) does anyone have any recommendations for lunch and dinner on the way from Santa Barbara to Dana Point? Thanks again!

Places to eat in Dana Point

Love all the responses! Keep them coming!! We will definitely go with Stonehill Tavern (expensive yes but we won't eat there every night!!) and I'm going to check out the others. Trying to familiarize myself with all the CA lingo/abbreviations!

Places to eat in Dana Point

My husband has a conference at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel and I was looking for some places for us to eat and if anyone has any recommendations on must do things in that area I would appreciate it. We like most foods but I don't care for seafood (crazy coming from someone in Boston, I know!). We don't want to go crazy moneywise every night so a range of options would be nice. Thanks so much!

Looking for a place to have a kid friendly brunch (8 adults, 6 kids) in Boston or Cambridge

Hi - I have family coming in for the holidays and they would like to spend a Sunday in Boston - any suggestions for a good brunch/breakfast place where children (including 3 under 2 yrs) would be welcome?

Thanks!

Pre theater dinner

Just looking for some good food prior to seeing Jersey Boys this Saturday night. Show is at 8pm. 6 adults - probably no Chinese food. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!

Lunch near Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium with kids?

Just got back and wanted to let everyone know how we fared! We had a WONDERFUL breakfast at the Bongo Room on Wabash and Roosevelt - it was so tasty and the service was terrific - very helpful to our party of 11 (including 3 in highchairs). Although they don't have a children's menu they were great about giving us smaller orders of anything we wanted at very reasonable prices. I had one strawberry shortcake pancake which just about melted in my mouth and one banana nestle crunch pancake (couldn't pick just one so it's nice that you can order one of two different kinds) which was also delicious. My SIL had the lemon ricotta ones and those were wonderful too. My husband had the breakfast burrito, which I tasted, and we both loved it - it came with great salsa and fabulous potatoes. Really, everything about this place was great! Thanks for the recommendation ferret!

For lunch we ate at Soundings at the Shedd Aquarium - too bad I didn't see the review by apfb before I went because the food was not good at all - I don't know how you can mess up a caprese panini but they did - I couldn't even eat it - the tomatoes were so mushy (and this is the height of the tomato season in these parts!) and the bread was soggy too. My son had the black bean bacon soup which had next to no flavor. Overall, a big disappointment (although the Shedd was great!). Thank you everyone for taking the time to post - I appreciate it!

How far of a walk would you say the Bongo Room is from the Field Museum? Also, I know this is off topic but can we bring strollers (double ones!) on the subway/buses, etc..?
