Any Ethiopian places?

I'm surprised about your experience with Karibu. We went there for dinner about a week ago and loved it. We had all 6 veggie dishes as part of their 'combos' and only one of the 6 was served cold (and incidentally the cold dish was one of my favorites). The food was served table-side to us and I thought everything we had was very well spiced/flavored and, aside from the one cold dish, was piping hot.

I'd definitely give it another shot, they may just still be working the kinks out since they've been open for such a short time. I have yet to try their buffet, too which is bizarrely not offered on the weekends.

Mee Kuah in Austin?

Does anyone know of a place that has this in Austin?

It's a noodle soup from Singapore that looks amazing.

Delicious New Thai Restaurant

I wholeheartedly second the above endorsement. Just dropped in for lunch and ordered one of the specials. Spicy flat noodles with tofu/vegetables with soup and rice for only $6.50. I'm not sure why a noodle dish would come with rice but aside from that the flavors are all here. The noodles are definitely a notch above most places I've been around here. I don't know if it ranks among my favorite local Thai spots based on this one dish but I'll definitely be back. Also, the soup that comes with the lunch special is simple but excellent - a thin, clear broth with a few veggies and pieces of tofu.

I had a peak at the dinner menu too, which is enormous, featuring just about everything you could imagine at your average Thai restaurant and as I suspected, just about everything can be made with tofu to accommodate vegetarians such as myself.

What's the deal with Guero's?

Couldn't agree more. I ate there once on the suggestion of some out of town friends who'd heard it was good and I'll never go back. Bland food that's overpriced. I have no idea why it's such an Austin favorite.

Paila Peruvian?

Has anyone been to Paila Peruvian Cuisine on E. 7th? I think it's a pretty new place and I can't seem to find much of anything about it on the web (citysearch, chronicle, etc.). If you've been, a) is it good, and b) do they have any vegetarian options?

Thanks!
