Duke of Kent review - Authentic British Pub at Yonge & Eglinton!
She's speaking of The Feathers here.
Bars at Woodbine & Danforth?
I made the mistake of ordering wings here & had the worst indigestion and foul smelling belches all night. My Smithwicks was fine though...
Where oh where to get canned or packaged poutine sauce (e.g. St. Hubert) in east end Toronto
I've seen it at the Sobey's at Yonge and St. Clair as well.
Roti Cuisine of India
Gandhi tends to be inconsistent with their spicing and more than once I've received a meltdown of a meal after asking for my heat to be medium. Roti Cuisine of India is far less contemptuous with spices and they'll tell you if something is at a heat level that might ruin your meal.
RCoI also gets points for being open on weekends and evenings. From what I recall, Gandhi is open during the week only.
Latest Charlie Burger
They're not douche-y at all. If anything, they're attentded by people who are excited about food and the opportunity to do something different for dinner. It's not about being seen or being part of a scene.
Salis Noodis - Yonge/St. Clair
I went shortly after they opened and I wasn't really impressed with the food. I ordered the Char Siu noodle salad and ended up getting about $3 worth of ingredients for $9.
The site's photos look good though...perhaps they've improved since then...
Sushi - Danforth & Logan area
I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this but I ate at Casa Sushi the other day. A friend needed a tempura fix and I went along for some Dynamite Rolls. Her fry was greasy and disgusting. My rolls were just 'ok'. Not too much rice a la New Gen, but there was nothing special about them... You definitely get what you pay for.
2012 Food and Restaurant CHANGES and CLOSINGS
It appears that my local hole-in-the wall Chinese takeout, Donlands Garden has closed. According to other shop keepers in the area, the business was sold recently but nobody knows what's going in next. Has anyone got any other info?
2012 Food and Restaurant CHANGES and CLOSINGS
The sign in their window said three weeks ago that they'd be closed for a week... Let's hope they reopen soon. I love what they do.
Leslieville Cheese on Donlands
An espresso bar you say? The strip needs some good coffee! I can't wait!
woodlot walk in
I wouldn't count on getting a seat by walking in. You might want to consider calling and asking them to put your name on the list to be notified of any reservation cancellations instead.
Auld Spot on Danforth
I met a friend here for dinner last week and we ended up moving elsewhere because their beer lines were so dirty.
Leslieville Cheese on Donlands
The fish and chip place isn't bad. Certainly not fine dining but they're friendly and the grub's good.
2012 Food and Restaurant CHANGES and CLOSINGS
While I said 'moving' I should have said 'coming', I guess. Opening date is March 15th if I'm not mistaken.
I hope they do well. That strip is home to some strange businesses (the butcher for one) and I'm looking forward to seeing them in the 'hood.
2012 Food and Restaurant CHANGES and CLOSINGS
I noticed that Leslieville Cheese Market is moving into East York, across the street from Fresh from The Farm!
Holy Chuck... Priest has nothing on this place.
I stopped in for a Cheeseburger combo today and while I enjoyed my delicious, lunch I overheard four different customers rave about the shakes they'd had with their meal.
Get thee to Big Mouth Luck Dumpling House in Delisle Court (Yonge St. and Heath St.)
I've been here three times already and can't get enough of the pork and dill dumplings..
Massimo Capra at Rainbow Room - Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls...
I treated some friends to dinner here last November and my experience nearly mirrors yours. I had dined at Mitsura previously and was expecting so much more from the Rainbow Room. It was just ho-hum passable hotel food in a tourist trap.
DNISTER - Ukranian Deli - St. Lawrence Market
They also have house-made pickles and sauerkraut. The sour pickles deliver exactly what you'd expect; Lots of punch and pucker.
Gill Restaurant Yonge and St. Clair
Their menu noted delivery was available, but their radius is quite small at 3 blocks.
Gill Restaurant Yonge and St. Clair
They're open as of today. Lots of dumplings, dim-sum, noodle and stir-fry on the menu. No lunch specials (as of yet) so I picked up an order each of pork, shrimp and zucchini (fried) and pork and dill (boiled) dumplings.
I'd say that the dumplings here are tastier than those served at Mother's. More fillings, not greasy, although they're a bit more expensive.
Where to buy loose leaf tea in Toronto
There's also the House of Tea on Yonge, just north of Rosedale Subway.
New Burger Joint @ Yonge & St. Clair - BYO Artery widener!
Having moved jobs into the area I am really enjoying the fact that I no longer have the usual six food court/power centre choices and took advantage of Holy Chuck yesterday. I visited after the lunch rush and ordered a cheeseburger and fries along with a Coke to stay. As I was about to eat my recommended daily intake of calories (with a substantial amount of them stemming from fat) in one sitting, I knew that sugar and caffeine were going to be needed to keep me awake through the afternoon.
My burger looked much like the ones I'd been served at Burger's Priest although my the cheese never melted fully. I don't know if that's because my BP meals have always been consumed off-site after travelling some distance in a paper bag or not but I thought it'd be worth mentioning. As such, the cheese had a pronounced flavour that seemed to cut the burger's greasy richness somewhat, kind of like how it does on a Big Mac.
I appreciate burgers grilled on a flat top. The crust that forms on a burger cooked this way is something quite special and that on my Holy Chuck cheeseburger delivered. Beneath it, tender meat still a tiny bit pink sat on a soft, sweet bun that I believe was supplied by Weston's. I also enjoyed my fries, although I found them quite salty. Their herbed flavour lent some sort of relief to the guilt of eating such an outrageously unhealthy lunch, however I didn't finish them.
I will go back to Holy Chuck but not for a few months as their price structure makes it prohibitive to enjoy their product any more frequently. Perhaps that's for the best, given how sinfully unhealthy this place's food is.
Looking for small private dining room near Delta Chelsea
The cellar is a popular spot but there are also small rooms available upstairs at Barberians.

The Toronto Best Beef Jerky
The ordering process was fairly simple; I selected my product, hit submit and got a call later that day to confirm my order and to obtain my credit card number. The product came by standard mail a few days later and I was a happy, happy girl.
Forget the dried out jerky you've had elsewhere. Longview's product is moist, has a great 'chew' to it and is moderately seasoned. I really wish it was sold in retail out here.
McEwan vs Pusateri's
The last time I went to MacEwan's store, half of the cheese selection for sale was past its prime.
