Fantastic restaurant in Rosenberg/Sugarland area?
In Houston for 2 days, need a rec. for a FANTASTIC place to take special guests to eat in the south/west area generally not far from the Rosenberg and Sugarland corridor.
Thanks kindly!

What about Casa De Luz, great tasting vegan in a pleasant environment. www.casadeluz.org
Healthy Vegan Eats North Austin?
Other than Whole Foods (which I prefer to call unholy foods!) can you recommend any locales for vegan and/or organic lunch and dinner in North Austin and its general environs?
Cambridge : Delicious organic eats?
Where would you recommend in the cambridge area for delicious organic food? Vegetarian is fine too.
We will be in Cambridge/Boston for 3 days (a couple with a toddler), and would love to know where are the best spots to eat the best meals, preferably organic and a good value.
Thanks so kindly!
Good Healthy Organic Bread in Town?
Yup, know the bread, buy it regularly, but it has no crust to speak of, and not unlike the Eze 4:9 bread. Looking for something more to akin to a crusty european bread
Good Healthy Organic Bread in Town?
There seems to be a dearth of places to get a good bread in town, by good I mean a good crust with high fiber baked with organic whole grains.
Appalled at the Whole Foods pumpernickel uses caramel coloring and not dense at all.
The same with Central Market, not a lot of picks there as far as organic high fiber bread.
Is there anywhere in Austin to find this?
Best bulk organic grains and beans
Where in town is the best place to buy organic grains and dried beans in bulk, that are fresh and reasonably priced Know about Central Market (super overpriced) and Whole Foods.
Where else would you suggest?
Moving from LA - Looking for healthy options
Moving from Los Angeles this week to the west area (cuernavaca), and hoping to find some recommendations for organic markets, other than Whole Foods.
Are there any in town? What about farmer's markets?
So hope that we can find the same market and healthy res't options that we have grown quite used to in LA.
Much obliged for your comments!
Temecula - Lunch - Best choice?
We have friends from out of state having lunch with us in Temecula, what would be the best choice. We favor a more healthy lunch venue.
Thanks!
Pasadena Aniversary Sat - Madeleines or Firefly
Urgently need help to find a rest to accomodate a private party of 12 for a special anniversary this Saturday.
Considering Madeleines on Green St in Pasadena or Firefly in South Pas. Which would you rate higher as far as food?
Any other places of high quality in the greater Pasadena area you might recommend that would allow a private party area and run $50 per head (including tip and tax)
Thanks so much, as I am quite in need of your feedback!
Ca'Brea - How good is it now?
Planning a special anniversary party for some dear friends this weekend, and was planning on having at Ca'Brea, but having read really poor recent reviews, having second thoughts.
For those who have been there, how does it rate right now, on a 1 to 10.
Also are there any other places you might recommend for a private anniversary party location for 12. Really appreciate your feedback!!!!
Fabulous ethnic in San Jose?
Taking a business colleague to lunch or dinner in the San Jose area (we are staying in Fremont) and looking for a recommendation for a memorable lunch/dinner in the San Jose area, preferably of Indian/Afghan or any other ethhic derivation.
If there is something else that you absolutely fabulous that is more American, please recommend that too.
Much thanks!
Sierra Madre Dinner
I second all the opinions about food in Sierra Madre. Living there now for 7 years, have not had a memorable meal at any place. Why not venture into Pasadena instead, it is on the way from the Westside.
A favorite, and consistently good, place for a Thai meal is Saladong Song on Fair Oaks.
Happy eating!
Best Food within 30 minutes of Fremont Area
Taking a business colleague to dinner next week (Thursday) and would love to find a fabulous eatery of any kind of food. Staying in the Fremont area, so would like to limit my travel time to 30 minutes from Fremont. What would you recommend? Much obliged to receive your suggestions!
If I could eat at only 1 Italian Rest in Brooklyn . . .
After a week of my quest for the best Italian food in NYC, and following all the generous recommendations in Chowhound, I return back from the food trenches with a report:
1. Queen on Court Street– The only delight on the menu was the bread, which was warm and crusty fresh. All other items on the menu that we ate were mediocre at best. The chicken and pea dish was absolutely flat with flavor, as if the cooks had just forgotten to season it altogether. Another chicken dish that was ordered was too salty and also lacking in flavor. The pasta was OK, but nothing special.
Stick with the bread if you ask me.
2. Al Di La -- Yes yes! Fantastic risotto, artichoke ravioli, olive oil cake and asparagus and egg appetizer. It deserves the raves. Thanks Chowhounders for steering me in the right direction. I even went a second time because the food was so good, the ambiance so pleasant, despite the wait and boisterous interiors. A favorite!!
3. Noodle Pudding - Compared to Al Di La, it was definitely inferior. It was acceptable, but did not raise above acceptable. I would prefer to hop on the train to eat in Park Slope at Al Di La, next time. I ordered the puttanesca, and the sauce was too anchovey and salty, but OK. The lasagna bolognese was acceptable, but not exceptional.
4. Joes of Avenue U -- To be honest, the food has nosedived since my last eating there about 5-6 years ago. I ordered several entrees, knowing that I could not finish them, but hoping to have delicious sicilian food, but was quite disappointed. Only the panelle were quite good (although compared to Fernandos in Cobble Hill, they were heavy and thick). The marinara sauce tasted worse than many store bought varieties I have had, it was downright sweet and watery. The escarole boiled to a pulp, and virtually inedible. The rice ball special was fair, being dry and not fresh tasting, and overly drowned in cheese and sauce. Other than the panelle, I would not order anything on the menu, based on the items I ordered.
5. Fernando's in Cobble Hill - The 104 year old Sicilian gem! Excellent delicate and fresh panelle. Ricotta ball special that was excellent. Excellent paparadelle with marinara, and not least of all canolli that were spectacular, better than any I have had anywhere else. The canolli cream was airy, delicate and saved from the candied fruit chunkiness that comes with canolli usually. The decour is a bit rickety, but that too adds to the charm.
Thanks to all Chowhounders who helped us find these memorable eateries, and have us hankering to get back to NY as soon as possible.
GREAT Italian in Pasadena?
Have tried Celestino's several times, and have to say they are considerably overrated and overpriced. Pleasant environs, acceptable food, but if it was my parents' 35 anniversary and wanted something really special I would not choose it.
If I could eat at only 1 Italian Rest in Brooklyn . . .
There are not enough days in our NYC trip to hit all the wonderful places, so if I had to pick only one Brooklyn Italian restaurant that serves southern Italian food, preferably more home-style, and reasonably priced, where would you send me?
My contenders are:
1. Baci & Abbracci (Williamsburg)
2. Noodle Pudding (Brooklyn Heights)
3. Po (Smith Street)
Any other contenders that just can't be missed?
Best Middle Eastern in Atlantic Avenue Area/BH
Years ago there used to be a fabulous place on Henry Street called Fattoush that made their bread and mind-blowing sandwiches with grilled veggies/meat middle eastern style. Don't know if this place is still running or any good? Any one know
Better yet, where would you steer me for fantastic middle eastern food in the area? Living in LA right now we get fabulous Lebanese/Armenian food so I am looking something that is particularly NYC spun middle eastern food.
Much obliged for your suggestions.
Joe's Avenue U - Any Good?
Years ago (about 8), Joe's was a fabulous place for Sicilan food such as their rice ball specials, chick pea pancakes, etc.
Is this place a wonderful eatery these days or has it gone downhill. Heard there are new owners, and I only have a a few days in NYC, so want to chose the best of the best in my limited time there.
Best Authentic Polish Food in Town?
Been to Teresa's and find them OK, but definitely not authentic homemade style pierogis, and they don't offer any range of polish food. They are a great cheap eat for Polish-American dishes. Any other suggestions?
Best Authentic Polish Food in Town?
I am a Polish-American NYer living in LA, and coming back home for a short trip in June and hankering for the best authentic polish food I can find in town. Been away from NY for 7 years and lost all my foodie contacts.
Where would you send me for delectable pierogis, stuffed cabbage, pickle soup and the like . . .
