At one point Len Deighton was forced to name his nameless spy. So he picked Harry Palmer.

Mastro's - Best location?

The Ocean Club in Newport Beach is pretty nice. Maybe not up to Malibu, but nice.

Coming back for a quick visit - anything interesting in Pasadena?

The Pasadena Lunasia does not yet have a liquor license while the Alhambra outpost does.

Call me crazy, but I'm thinking you saw Ming-Na Wen who formerly played Agent Lin Mei prior to kicking butt on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Racion, The Eatery, Lunasia, Sushi Kimagure Ike.

What are some over-rated L.A. restaurants to you? Why, specifically? Only one each!

I'm not sure if it's true everywhere, but LA has a long history of places that are schizophrenic. They are awful and treat you like shit if they don't know you and/or they just feel like it; they are terrific if they know you and like having you around even if you are a bit of an a-hole. I wish there was an easy fix for this. I doubt there is. Forget it, Jake, it's Chinatown.

Schweppes bitter lemon drink

Not sure, but as a substitute you might look for Pellegrino's version.

Well, Angelyne does have a number of credits on IMDB. It is also claimed there that she was born in 1958 (doubtful). Cassandra (Elvira) Peterson was a Groundling and has numerous credits.

I saw Angelyne at the Coffee Bean at Sunset & Argyle. She looked old, short and played out. But she still had her pink Corvette.

Actually, there's a Coffee Bean on Sunset near Fairfax where lots of TV people seem to come and go. But you have a point, lots of up and comers and minor celebs have a tendency to take meetings, discuss projects, etc. at coffee shops. Across from the Coffee Bean is a Rite Aid where Richard Lewis always seems to be filling prescriptions. I've seen William H. Macy, Felicity Huffman and Minnie Driver on different occasions at 101 Coffee Shop on Franklin. The food there can be decent too.

The thing is unless it's a premiere where the celebs show up in their element and all glammed up, you might not recognize them right in front of you. They can frequently be found at supermarkets in BH or Malibu, particularly upscale markets like Whole Foods. I once saw Springsteen, his second wife and first kid at Ivy at the Shore. I have seen several at the original Ivy. The last person I saw was Simon Helberg (Big Bang) while I was in line at Warner's to see a taping of Two Broke Girls. He was just walking onto the lot to get to a soundstage. Younger celebs can be glimpsed at places like the Viper Room.
Another place you can run into them is at theatrical places like The Groundlings on Melrose. They like to go out too.
As someone suggested downthread, paps are like bread crumbs leading you to celebs. If you see a couple of folks with cameras with lenses the size of table legs hanging around, approach and ask who they are looking for.

No, that just happens to be a feature. Mustard tastes good on some (many) sandwich regardless of calorie count.

Or you could be the one who is "wrong." Mustard is a good loCal spread on most sandwiches. And--heresy--burgers.

Arguably it's slow because they are making it all fresh.
