Sushi Zo vs Nozawa/Sushi Park/Sasabune - sushi preparation question I have a sushi question that has plagued me for years. It's about the sauce/seasoning used in preparing omakase. I love the sushi preparation that Nozawa, Sushi Park, and Sasabune do. I am less of a fan of the preparation that Takao and Sushi Zo use. I believe that Takao and Sushi Zo use more ponzu and yuzu. Sushi Zo seems to use ponzu and yuzu in every dish. Takao also uses a lot of shiso leaf. But I'm not sure if I'm getting my sauces right. Am I right in my guess about ponzu and yuzu? Thanks so much for your help! ----- Sasabune Sushi Park Takao |

best bbq takeout in los angeles right now I host home poker games, and I have purchased catering from Baby Blues BBQ. I'm from the Deep South, and I love their food, which is not overpriced, but definitely not a bargain. I've also been happy with catering from: Phillips BBQ (as others have posted) and Original Texas BBQ King |

Deli/Cafe in West LA? Similar to Rita Flora or Joan's on Third? Are there any deli/cafes in West LA similar to Rita Flora, Joan's on Third, or The Little Door Market? I have been to Clementine, which is quite good, but parking at lunch is terrible and so is getting a table. |

Where to take "beginners" for Korean BBQ? Woo Lae Oak of Seoul is on the expensive side, but very novice-friendly. Hardcore Korean BBQ fans say it's too westernized, but it's still delicious. I haven't been in a while though. Soot Bull Jeep is great too, but not "fancy." |

Best Philly cheesesteak and gyro? Who has the best Philly cheesesteak sandwich and gyro in LA? Preferably open late on the westside and maybe evoking the "on a budget" college-style experience. I'm craving a nostalgic sandwich from my 20s! I like The Great Greek on Ventura Blvd, but it's far and not the "on the go" style I'm looking for. Thanks!! |
