I thought of it, but they're all booked.

I love R&D, but I think our guests would prefer something a bit fancier.

Yes, it does appeal to me - will see what the group thinks. Thanks!

You're right - I don't need you to tell me that. But, thanks for telling me anyway - it was very helpful.

Yes, I realize that, but we only found out last night that they were coming into town. We would be OK with a somewhat later reservation (perhaps 9), but probably not much later. And we strongly prefer having a reservation as opposed to possibly waiting endlessly. Also, we don't need to be in the "hippest" spot, just something a tiny bit interesting.

Rec needed for Trendy (but not too loud) and Good Food/Cocktails

Hi All, looking for a recommendation for dinner for 5 on Friday June 19 - 1 couple in their late 30s and 1 couple in their late 40s with their 20 year old daughter (visiting from Ireland). Hoping for something a little bit trendy (or interesting), but not too loud so that we can still hear each other. And, of course, good food and cocktails/wine. Neighborhood not too important, nor is price. As a point of reference, last year we went to Fig and Olive in the Meatpacking and everybody loved it.

Fish Tacos between LAX and Marina del Ray?

I wanted to go to Ricky's Fish Tacos, but that seems a bit out of the way! Maybe one of the other days...

Fish Tacos between LAX and Marina del Ray?

Hi All: anyone have a good recommendation for a quick pit stop for fish tacos between LAX and Marina del Ray (or somewhere nearby). We are coming in Sunday afternoon and would love it if our friends (who are picking us up) could make a quick stop for us since we'll be hungry after our flight. They are pretty new to the area, so thought I'd check here for recommendations. Thanks.

Good Eats Near Sugarbush/Bristol After Skiing

Thanks so much - Bobcat looks like just the ticket after a long drive up from NYC! We're staying in Bristol and will be skiing in Sugarbush, which is why I mentioned both places.

Good Eats Near Sugarbush/Bristol After Skiing

Hi all, I've tried perusing the board, but can't seem to find anything current. Going to be in Bristol in a few weeks (Mon - Fri) for some skiing and looking for good eats nearby - nothing too fancy, any cuisine. Thanks.

Private room rec - near 42 & 9, Italian, for 60th anniv. party

Not when I was there which, admittedly, was in 2007.

No, there's an alcove inside the restaurant - about midway, on the right (as you're walking from the front). I had a nice family dinner there and there were about 10 of us.

Check out Crispo. They don't have a private room, but they have a nice alcove that could probably fit 11.

How is Colicchio's Tap Room in terms of noise level?

Planning on bringing a friend there next Saturday. Managed to get a 7pm reservation, but afraid it might be too loud/bustling My friend is a bit hard of hearing, so wanted to get some thoughts about the noise level. Thanks.

Budget NYC Bride

I got married last winter at Bayards and it was wonderful. We had a pretty booze-centric wedding also, but I was surprised by their reasonable prices, so I think they can work with your budget (especially on a Sunday, especially if it's during the day). The other benefit is that the space is gorgeous (especially in December) and I barely decorated - just some candles and photographs.

Longest brunch line/wait in NYC?

It's still like that and every time I walk by, I have to stop myself from asking those people why in the h*ll they're standing outside in the freezing cold. I've only been there once for lunch and paid $35 for a decent salad and pretty crappy glass of wine.

snacks and drinks for a group on a Saturday night?

Try Pierre Loti. I did this recently with about 6 people at the Chelsea location and it was great. We made a reservation and sat at a table, which may work for you (if there's a table/space in the back). There's also a location on Irving Place, which, if I recall correctly, is somewhat more loungy (with couches), so that might work also.

Ilili is also a good idea - I've done the same thing there.

Where's your fav Italian in the east and west village or downtown on the moderate side $36/ person

This is true. I spend 25 minutes trying to get through to them the other day. That must be a least $36 of my time! The OP said appetizer and entree for $36, so i assumed that didn't include drinks, tax, tip, etc. May have been too literal of a reading...

I like the Dell'anima/L'Artusi/L'Apicio restaurants. And there's always Babbo.

Yes, I thought about those places, but I'm afraid they won't work for 5 people. Doesn't have to be within a block or two - a 10-15 minute walk would be ok (any further would limit what shoes I can wear :)

Fancy Cocktails before Babbo

Hello, looking for a place to get a nice cocktail before dinner at Babbo. Saturday night in November, there will be 5 of us, dinner is at 9. Ideally a place where we can sit, talk, and have a quality drink or two.
