I just saw it the other day and I'll try it soon.

Damon's steak house
Strongly remember the Tenderloin. We get it butterflied.
Very tender and great flavor.
Purchase corned beef?
We get the Baily's Corned beef commonly available.
Last year we got a late start and got the Albertsons Market House corned beef. It was very good and we plan to get either on this year.
Biscuits and gravy
The Olympic Cafe in Sylmar is very good.
Located near at the North split of San Fernando
road and Truman
WARNING. they close at at 2 PM
Best pastrami in L.A.
The Oinkster pastrami is good. It is made there with their own recipe.
Warning.. There is a LOT of pepper in the recipe so it is very different from Brent's, The Hat, etc.
It's good though.
Los Angeles Cheap Eats Comfort Food Joints
We used to go to Pann's regularly but no more!
The prices on the new menu are totally ridiculous. Over $9 for a diner hamburger, etc. Everything is overpriced. You can go to your favorite specialty restaurant for the items you crave and save.
Too bad. I turned in my Pann's card.
Your most memorable 1st time in 2007....
My S.O. Took me to the Saddle Peak Lodge for my birthday. It was great.
I had Elk and it was tasty and mile. Amazing.
She had Buffalo and was also very pleased.

Los Angeles Pastrami Crawl
We also like Victors Liquor & Delicatessen.
the pastrami is very good as is the rye bread.

Los Angeles Pastrami Crawl
They are apples and oranges. Langers/Brents/Jewish delis have pastrami sliced from a cooked pastrami hunk.
The Hat/Johnnies etc are sliced when raw and boiled.
Both can be quite good but quite different.
Los Angeles Pastrami Crawl
I found the pastrami had a LOT of pepper, Just below the threshold for really good.
I do not consider it to be "pastrami" but a tasty pastrami like sandwich.
Westchester: bistrotek and Tompkins Square?
I went to Tompkins Square in the early afternoon. I was VERY disappointed!
The service was horrid. The server (Owner?) was on the cell phone the whole time he was taking, serving, and billing my order. When he was not on the phone he was sitting in a booth with a friend and it was difficult to attract his attention.
The food was not very good. I had the regular burger on an onion roll. For $10 I expected a quality burger. Sadly the beef patty had that gritty texture of USDA non-toxic. (Select) The onion bun was over grilled (outside) ans seemed stale. The condiments were good but you only get 3 including bun, lettuce pickle, etc. Above 3 are charged extra for each.
True about the not being air conditioned but only slightly too warm and not a real minus on the day I went.
I had high hopes for a good burger in Westchester but I shall not return.
The best I have found in the area is at Petrelli's. Good size and cooked to order.
Needed old school steakhouse in LA
Damons is very good. Tenderloin (butterflied) and Ribeye.
Billingsly's is a tad below mediocre.
IMHO
Looking for eats near LAX
I like the Italian Combo. Add a little spicy mustard.
When in a cholesterol be damned mood I have the "Stiky", Braunswager and Turkey.
Looking for eats near LAX
You can only get there going N.E. on La Tijera or South on La Cienega
If North on La Cienaga turn Left onto Centinela and a quick Right on La Tijera.
(please excuse the "foreign" spelling.
==>> The Chicken Fries Steak is great.
Looking for eats near LAX
I hope their restrooms are not as incredibly gross as in the past.
Good Chicken Fried Steak
I agree. With the original biker owners when we ordered two CFK's the waitress would shout out "POUND TWO." Shortly we would hear the pounding from the kitchen.
Another good CFK is:
Eat'n Park Restaurant .
2517 W Victory Blvd, Burbank, CA - (818) 953-9302
==>> Be sure to call they have strange hours. Only to early afternoon I recall.
Pann's - Thoughts, recommendations, things to avoid?
The Chicken Fried Steak is very good. Country gravy and mashed potatoes. GREAT!
Brent's Deli/Northridge on Sundays
The turnover is pretty fast. Don't give up when you see the crowd.
==>> Parking on the other hand is miserable. Be prepared to look for awhile.
BEST BLT IN LA?
The best "Fast Food" BLT is Arby's.
It is surprisingly good. $6. The bread is GREAT! Lots of tasty Bacon and well, tomato is tomato. Only downside it the lettuce is not iceberg.
Impressive Dinner Near LAX?
My vote is for Shula's too.
It is within your distance unlike many offers here. I don't understand why some hounds feel free to double and triple the maximum distance requested. the Marina, during rush hour, is not close to LAX.
favorite fried chicken?
You simply cannot beat Porky.s Golden Bird Fried chicken. On Manchester in Inglewood.
Frozen custard in LA?
I simply refuse to pay for parking at a mall. Howard Hughes is out also.
What a scam!
BBQ - Where to find the best in LA?
Porky's recently changed their brisket. It use to be somewhat dry. Now it is really good.
Porky's has a BBQ on premises. They serve the Q with the sauce on the side.
Everything I have eaten there is very good.
Hunting down that outrageous carrot cake!
We have a tree trimming party year with pretty much the same group of friends. They all love the Carrot Cake we get frozen at Smart and final. I know, shudder. It has good flavor and yes, the cream cheese icing.
Frozen custard in LA?
BTW there is no 'of' in Taste Chicago. I went crazy trying to Google map it.
Frozen custard in LA?
I seem to recall that they have closed during the winter and were resurrected in the summer. I went with my laptop for some of their frozen custard and use of their free wi-fi.
They were closed and looked out of business but the wi-fi was still hot.
They opened again when it got warm.
We can only hope it is a pattern.
Cafe stuck to the Vista Theatre, Hollywood/Sunset/Hillhurst
We get to the Vista regularly from the Northridge area. Great theater. We usuallg go to Cheeche's Pizza north on Hillhurst. Just across from Mexico City. (Blech!)
The ingredients are fresh and the dough and sauce are made on site. A pretty good Caesar salad served in c classy cardboard boat. Small but usually table available Busy takeout.
This is just a small pizza joint but the food is good and the time is predicitable. NOTE: the low price on the board is actually for TWO pizas.

Slip Me Some Tongue (sandwich) Recc's

Just give me a couple of eggs.
