TNFNS 7/20 (spoilers inside)
Oops, my apologies for not giving Rozz absolute due credit for the M Stewart/Romulan line. Best ever. But check out Michelle Forbes in Star Trek TNG as Ensign Ro Laren. The resemblance is frightening.

Aaron will win. Blandness is prized over uniqueness. Of the remaining three, it's Lisa who has the most complex personality. She is both negative and positive energy. Each week she does something very surprising...awe-inspiring and, yes, angering: She kvetched about Nipa holding them up, yet she was the first to come to Nipa's defense when she stormed out of the judgment session. She handled Martha Stewart like a champion fan. She froze w/RR. She took Paula Deen's cattiness as well as expected. When Jennifer all but sabotaged their team effort with the jar accident, Lisa tactfully laid blame w/o looking like Lisa Fernandas on Top Chef. But her big coup de guerre was getting Aaron to realize he needed to cook off the chicken for the Las Vegas challenge. Yes, she didn't tell Kelsey how to cook sausage. But she chose her to help in the last challenge (big mistake). You're all right, she's no joy to watch, but I WATCH her. And she went for broke with that song. Also, as for her cooking she has turned more disasters into successes than any of the contestants. Adam would be the Bob Saget of FN, Aaron, its Nipsy Russell, but Lisa would be...it's caffinated Romulan Martha Stewart.

Liebman's Deli - Bronx, NY - a Chowhound Recco pans out
I've lived in Riverdale for 16 years, and pretty much agree w/bronxer about Liebman's, Tibbet and Mother's.
BUT every summer around August (earlier this year) Mother's offer what they call "Peach Cobbler." It's really fresh cut peaches on a puff pastry square, glazed and baked off. The puff pastry is deflated, but it's pretty good compared to the rest of what they offer. Also the Friday Russian coffee cake is delectable awfulness. Try a slab of it (either cinnamon raisin or chocolate) and you'll see what I mean.

Chicago eats
Hey, I only had three hours and I spent at least 45 minutes looking for the transit card machine in Union Station (and trying to figure it out). I did like Garrett's alot, and no I don't usually care for popcorn. I'm hoping to go back soon and spend more time chowing.

Chicago eats
I was in too much of a hurry to really look, so I did a 3 hour food tour: Garrett's (Great), Al's #1 Beef (some weird spice in it that doesn't agree w/me) Portillo's red hots (to my surprise really good--hey! I'm a New Yorker), Billy Goat Tavern (get dah doble cheezboorger, the place is more sleazy fun atmosphere than any real great food). Didn't have time for Frontera or Superdawg, or Edwardo's pizza or any investigations beyond all the hyped. In the end, I'll stick with Garrett's Chicago Mix Popcorn.

Chowing in St. Louis and Springfield, Ill
Toasted ravioli are a bust @ Ragazzi's (the only good thing is the size of a beer), Hodak's fried chicken was thickly breaded w/blandness, tried the St. Paul Sandwich @ Kim Van (closed possibly for good as of today--shrimp, chicken and pork. Pork was the best. This is definitely a regional idiocincracy to enjoy. But the banana chocolate malted milk shake @ Crown Candy IS the reason to eat in St. Louis. I didn't get to Ferguson's or some of the other places mentioned. Next trip
Springfield for the "Horseshoe". At D'arcy's Pint. We shared the horseshoe deluxe (ground beef), ham, and corned beef. STAY AWAY FROM THE CORNED BEEF. Midwesterners do a lot of things well, but not corned beef. As for the horseshoe, it's a sandwich I appreciate, but find overbearing. I'd rather have the fries on the side--or better yet, freshly cut and fried potatoes instead of the frozen flash @ D'arcy's. Cheese sauce is good.
My Springfield pick is COZY DRIVE-IN. There's is the best example of a corn dog--but the place is RT 66 History that has stayed pure. I'm coming back to Springfield to get the whole deal at the Cozy.
Tried to find a Mel-O-Cream Donut that was open past 12 noon. All closed.
