Good news from D'Artagnan's site

On the product page for foie gras, it says "California customers -- Please note that, as of July 1, 2012, California law prohibits the sale of foie gras within the state of California. While the law does allow for us to sell to you through our website and for you to consume the product, there may be restrictions on your ability to resell them within your own state."
We can still get foie gras from NY.

French oysters?

I realize this may sound like an incredibly pretentious request, but I'm wondering if someone knows where to get French oysters in LA area.
I had a few Fines de Claires this week, and the flavor is just incredible.

best masala chai in LA.

Does anyone know where to get really good masala chai in LA?
I''m just back from India, by way of Paris.
Ideally, the place would sell it in 5 gallon drums.(partially kidding, but seriously, I drank a lot of chai)

On the eve of the Foie ban [moved from Los Angeles board]

Just wanted to share this.
It's from RTL, a french news site.
They have an interview with the head of D'artagnan.
I can translate it if you are all interested.
It provides info about the future.
D'artagnan is worried.
It's the audio link entitled "Ariane Daguin était l'invitée de RTL Matin. Elle est à la tête de la société "DArtagnan", premier distributeur de foie gras aux Etats-Unis"

How many times have you tried?
On the CBP site, I found a page.
Can I bring any meat, poultry or pork products into the U.S.?
Pate - If cooked and in a hermetically sealed container, maybe. Otherwise - no.

My only question now is whether Customs would confiscate foie at a major California airport.

Post-Paris withdrawal?

Does anyone else go through a state of withdrawal when returning to the united states from France?
It usually hits me the morning after I land, when I start craving a buttery croissant, and try to make do with the local imitations.

On the eve of the Foie ban [moved from Los Angeles board]

I just wanted to post a brief message here.
Tomorrow, the ban on Foie Gras begins.
I realize that there are much more pressing issues taking place in the world, but still, I find this to be sad.
As a French American foodie, I feel great sadness in knowing that it will be illegal to celebrate la féte de Noël with Foie gras.
As a way of mourning, I've had foie gras four times in the past week.
I just wanted to ask, what's everyone's favorite way to serve foie.
The best preparation I had was served cold, with fig jam, yesterday in Montmartre.

Mint badoit?

At the local Carrefour in the 14th arr, in Paris, I've found Badoit with mint. I know that regular badoit can be found at M. Marcel but does anyone know if they have Mint infused Badoit?
I'm flying home this week, and just wondering.

Amazing Dim Sum in HK accesible to train from Airport?

I might have a 10 hour layover in Hk from 1pm to 11 pm.
I'm looking to try authentic dim sum.
So far in life, my dim sum experience has been Yank Sing (San Francisco, USA) and Mandarin Court (New York, New York, USA)
Now that I have the chance to be in Hong Kong, I'd really like to try extraordinary, mind-blowing dim sum.

Ideally, I'd like to find something that isn't too far from the trains, for I will be travelling on the HK airport train.
Thanks.

Safe Delhi Chaat?

I'm arriving in New Delhi, in 2 weeks, for the first time.
I want to try the street foods.
Any suggestions of typical street foods to try, and any safe places to try them?
I want to be adventurous, but I have a Euroamerican stomach, but I like spice.

Any foodie worthy restaurants in this region?

After my experience at La Cachette, and other places, I'm feeling a tad disappointed in the LA food scene.
It could be because I'm French, or because I'm a New Yorker, but I just haven't really seen anything appealing, in terms of dining options in this city.
Any suggestions for changing that?

Any good boucheries, fromageries, or boulangeries in Los Angeles?

I'm looking for food shopping outside of the large markets, and am looking to purchase meats through a butcher, because I can get a better selection.
I'd also like to find a really good cheese shop.
In addition, I'm looking for the best boulangerie, for baguettes and croissants.
Any suggestions.
Merci.

I'm from NY, and I am pretty new to Los Angeles.

Also, best deli on the west side?

Odessa grocery was insane, so we went across the street, to "New York Deli."
They asked if we were looking for caviar, which we were.
They pulled out a white bucket with caviar inside, and said that it was beluga.
I am not sure what game they are playing, but I am staying away.
