Emidios

My only experience at Emidio's was in August 2012 when I took 16 members of my church's International Dining group. We were all well pleased with the menu and the quality of the dishes. I have been wanting to return ever since - but have not. It isn't exactly convenient to where we live.

KC: Oklahoma Joe's -- BBQ that delivers exactly as promised

My son lives in Leawood, KS and proclaims Oklahoma Joe's his favorite. He also said last year when I took him to LC's for burnt ends that they were the best bbq he had ever had. Yesterday, we took him to the original Arthur Bryant's and he proclaimed his pulled pork to be good, as were my burnt ends. He then reminded me that Oklahoma Joe's was the best bbq in Kansas City.

Traveling 70W from Columbus to Denver, Where must we stop?

Free State Brewery on Massachusetts Avenue in downtown Lawrence, Kansas is a great place to eat and/or have a brew.

The Cozy Inn in downtown Salina, Kansas has an 85 year history with small burgers. Limited menu similar to Krystals, White Castle, etc. - but much better in my mind.

Park Burgers in Denver is a great place to eat - if you need Denver information.

LC's for burnt ends. My son, who does not care for bbq, proclaimed his burnt ends the best bbq he had ever had in his 40+ years. Our burnt ends yesterday at Arthur Bryant's were good - but not as impressive as LC's.

Any Suggestions for Restaurants /food in Denver would be great

Park Burger in Denver offers El Mariachi - a burger with green chile, pico de gallo, and more. The burger was excellent and not typical of what would be found in other parts of the country.

Green Chile in Denver

I ate at Park Burger last night. My choice was El Mariachi, which included green chile. It was the best burger I have had in years.

Chowing down in the middle of Kansas

I have been visiting Abilene regularly for nearly forty years now. My time is spent checking out the dining options and seeing if the answers have changed since the last visit. Joe Snuffy's on First was formerly at the owning alley. Mr. K's Farmhouse has the paddles on the wall. Both are good places to eat.

I stopped for breakfast at Amanda's Bakery & Bistro this morning. My breakfast wrap (with sausage) was enjoyable. I will be checking out their other offerings in the future.

Mr. K's Farmhouse is my favorite Abilene restaurant. Renaissance Restaurant in Assaria is worth a visit. Main Street Cafe in downtown Durham is very good -homemade sausages and pies are especially noteworthy. Pusan Diner, 1634 N Washington, Junction City is an excellent lunch stop. Tomorrow morning, I will try Abilene's Amanda's Bakery & Bistro for the first time. They serve both breakfast and lunch

Burger on Buford Hwy?

Is there a burger option around Buford Hwy,/Peachtree DeKalb Airport that would be open this Sunday - Mother's Day?

A southbound New Englander

Nuway is a great visit. It is on a block long street across from the Bibb County Courthouse. The menu is mainly hot dogs and burgers. It is 80-90 years old and has an interesting history. The range of customers is as wide as you can imagine.

Old South BBQ in Gray is quite good, but does not have the old South charm (feel) of Fresh Air BBQ in Jackson. Either is a worthwhile stop.

An Atlanta institution is Mary Mac's on Ponce de Leon Ave. in Atlanta. begun in 1946 - they serve wonderful southern dishes.

Gu's Bistro- Buford Hwy- amazing Szechuan!

This review prompted us to try Gu's Bistro for the very first time. For the family, it was our best Szechuan experience yet. Thanks to Carviar_and-Chitlins post above, I ordered the Stuffed Tofu with Seafood. It was a surprise and was excellent. My son and I particularly enjoyed it. My son ordered the Cumin Lamb and was pleased with t - as was I. My wife had Kung Pao Chicken and was pleased with her choice. Our daughter ordered a beef dish with scallions and onions because it sounded as close to her favored Mongolian Beef as she was going to get. Not surprising - she only tasted her dish, but did well with it.

Our son, who recently moved to Chamblee from Norcross, is gradually exploring the many dining options of Buford Highway - but had not yet been to Gu's Bistro. He spoke of bringing some friends to Gu's in the near future.

Afterward, we stopped at Sweet Hut (which he described as a Vietnamese Starbucks) and ordered a variety of pastries. That was a beautiful way to end a pleasant evening.

Authentic Mexican Food

Among the enjoyable taquerias in Roswell are Carniceria San Miguel just west of GA 400 on Holcomb Bridge and Mi Mexico on Alpharetta Hwy midway between Roswell and Alpharetta. They both serve gringos - but not often.

Atlanta Restaurants - please help narrow down my list!

My current experience has been very positive at Mary Mac's and at Greenwoods's. Tastes vary, of course, but they are both held in high esteem by many - not all Atlanta diners. Hankook Taqueria is great! I am glad that you are including it.

Atlanta Restaurants - please help narrow down my list!

The last couple of trips to Mary Mac's have been the best we have had in years. They have corrected whatever problems were causing the poor reviews. It is worth visiting for the food, as well as its being an Atlanta institution. I have eaten early in the evening and have beaten the crowd. I think 5:30 pm should work well.

Good and interesting eats between Atlanta and Douglasville

Muss and Turner's is on Atlanta Road just off of I-285. That is a little further north than your direct route - but well worth the additional few minutes necessary to get there. Many (myself included) feel that it is the best sandwich place in metro Atlanta.

Pitty Pat's Porch

I agree regarding Pitty Pat's Porch. Contrary to "samlev", I feel that Mary Mac's is back on top of its game. Our last couple of meals there have been good.

Sunflower Cafe in Sandy Springs is vegetarian, is one of Atlanta's top restaurants, is accepted by several non-vegetarians I know.

Gumbeaux's in downtown Douglasville is the best Cajun in metro Atlanta. Very casual and very good.

Recommendation needed - Casual, along I-75, north of downtown but south of 575

The Rib Ranch on Canton Road (take Hwy 5 Connector north) on the left just past the first traffic signal. Brisket, pork, sausage, and chicken along with good sides. Plenty of room and plenty of parking.

HELP!!!! Want to introduce family to creative cuisine - Georgia

Cafe Sunflower in Sandy Springs might be just what you are after. Gabriel's on West Whitlock (SR 120) in Marietta is very good traditional southern cuisine. Muss and Turner's is just off I-285 on Atlanta Road in Smyrna. It is excellent.

Frontier is a great suggestion. If you dine there - focus on the green chile stew, cinnamon rolls, and tortillas - not necessarily in that order.

Peruvian in Atlanta?

Contigu Peru and Mambo's Cafe are both excellent. I have eaten most recently at the Contigu Peru on Chamblee Dunwoody. Mambo/s Cafe is in Alpharetta. Depending on where you are located - either is worth a visit.

Main Street Cafe, Durham, Kansas

We had lunch today at Main Street Cafe in downtown Durham, Kansas - thirty miles south of Abilene on K-15. It was every bit as good as last year - maybe a little better. Today's lunch specials were Bierocks or Homemade Sausage, mashed or baked potato, carrots or baked beans, and one trip salad bar for $7.25. My iced tea was $.75 and my rhubarb/raspberry pie set me back $2.25. My mother-in-law's ham and cheese sandwich came with a huge slice of ham for $3.40. The several homemade pies were all $2.25 per slice, except for peach which was $1.75. All soft drinks are $1.59.

Has anyone else eaten at Main Street Cafe? They are open Monday-Saturday from 6:30am-2:30pm and on Friday evenings from 5-8pm. The several dinner offerings are all $8.25 each.

Ethnic in ATL?

Several excellent suggestions above. I prefer Desta for Ethiopian, Nam Phuong for Vietnamese, and have always enjoyed 10 Degrees South for South African dishes.
