Short List of Napa Restaurants - Advice/Suggestions, Please.
i really enjoy redd. great cocktails/wine list. lovely menu and a very nice ambiance. ad hoc is also one of my absolute favorites, but i'd have to agree with the previous replies... not appropriate for this situation. bouchon is a wonderful choice as well.
the pines/cherry grove
so...
i posted this awhile ago and got no responses. i figured there were no replies because, as i had read elsewhere on chowhound, there simply are no good restaurants on fire island! is that really true???
i figure it can't hurt to try one more time. we've rented a house, so the bulk of meals will be made there. please let me know if you recommend ANYWHERE for good eats!
also... are there any markets/grocers/farmers markets on the island??? should i bring all kitchen supplies from manhattan?
thanks for all your help and suggestions!

a group of us are heading out to fire island at the end of may for a big ol' birthday bash. i'm trying to put together some reservations for the group as well as a little map of good eats for those attending. problem: fire island gets no love from chowhounders!!! oh dear.
this trip will be my first time there. if anyone has a recommendation for a whole-in-the-wall, fancy sit-down, or anything in between i would most appreciate the help.
also... if it comes down to picnic-ing are there any go-to delis?
thanks so much

Marin - Dinner for birthday? Good food, festive.
i'm a big fan of marche aux fleur in ross. great ambience and wonderful menu.
looking for "wow"...
love buckeye! good idea. quince was able to squeeze us in... so for this occasion, i believe we have our place.

okay... so you are right to assume a range here. "wow" leaves a lot of room. these are fantastic suggestions! thank you. let's see if we can narrow it down.
even though i'm a huge fan, it's probably not gonna be taco truck/parkway night.
NOPA is too hectic... at the same time nothing too stuffy either.
i've been meaning to get to manresa & will run it by the others. we have wine, so a place where we're encouraged to bring our own is good. ad hoc isn't open tuesdays.
quince might be perfect if we can get in.
basically we want to be able to really enjoy the ambience, the food, and each other's company for the evening... and maybe check out a new or oft forgotten favorite. thanks again for the feedback.
