Ramen Setagaya (らーめん せたが屋) 1st Ave (btw 8 & 9)
jus my 2cents - momofuku can't come even close to Setagaya- first the broth over at momofuku tastes like chicken stock - if anyone can tell me that it's more complex than that please post your thoughts, but really...just because you use berkshire pork and have an egg in there..the noodles are ALWAYS OVER COOKED, it would make any real ramen chef cry. For sure hands down Setagaya, tasty complex but not overwhelming broth, good portion cooked perfectly ramen - I'd rather wait an hour for that than wait an hour for something that is not nearly as authentic and I believe everything at mf is just a little more pricey.
Babbo Trip Report
My girlfriend took me to Babbo on my birthday on Saturday of last month. We got there a little after nine and BAM! got sat right down at a table in the front. It was the best experience I had there better than the one in the dining room, and we just walked in.
Babbo Trip Report
If i hear any elevator jazz or generic music fading into the background at any restaurant it makes me realize they don't know what the hell they are doing and they are not thinking of the entire experience. The reason why Babbo is cool is because they will play Guns n' Roses in the bar area but still serve a slammin bucatini.
Help!heights/dumbo/carroll gardens breakfast spot
Looking for a yummy breakfast spot near carroll gardens-heights area that I can go to in the middle of the week that isn't greasy spoon.
bar with classic mixed drinks
lately i've grown tiresome of wine bars - there unneccesarily expensive and the pretense seems to have gotten worse with the rest of the world loving it. i'm sorry but drinking $16 quartinos of rioja isn't cutting it. i'm green when it comes to mixed drinks but when a bartender makes a good one it hits the spot! Does anyone know what bar makes a classic mixed drink that would make me feel like Cary Grant?
Croissant Hankering
I am not a freak about french pastry- however sometimes you just need to sink your teeth into something buttery-flakey-light-divine, who knows where I can get the best croissant in town?
Best lobster roll in the city?
hey i've been eating 3-4x/week @ ED's Lobster Bar - on lafayette its bangin!
Ed McFarland the old sioux chef from P>O>B is the head chef there. Lobster roll is on point but even better is the softshell crab sandwich. Check it-
Good freshly roasted coffee to buy and make at home?
