Flint's BBQ - Gone but not forgotten
I am a native San Franciscan making a trip to the Bay Area later this month. I hear all of the Flint's locations are closed. Anyone have any suggestions for something close to the great BBQ that was Flint's? Looking for tender meat, nice char and a good sauce. Oh and there links were to die for.

Where can I find some good southern/soul food?
Marilyn's is excellent and authentic soul food. I've eaten there on many occasions. The catfish is fried to perfection. The smothered pork chops are heavenly. I also recommend The Creole Chef behind the Balwin Hills mall.
Oyster Po'Boy
Try the Creole Chef behind the Baldwin mall off of Crenshaw. Delicious and authentic.
Lobster bisque?
Surprisingly, the lobster bisque at the Ralph's downtown is very tasty. It is near the self-serve soup counter near the seafood department.
Cafeteria Style Eateries
Besides the obvious (Clifton's, Whole Foods, How's, Souplantation, Hometown Buffet) can anyone suggest any other cafeteria-style or buffet eateries?
Philly cheesesteak hunt
I have to agree. The cheesesteaks at this place are AMAZING. The have a good lasagne as well. I've been going there for about 10 years now.
Fried Pickles
I am in search of Fried Pickles. Seems to be popular in the South but I have yet to find them here. Has anyone seen them on a menu in Los Angeles or any surrounding areas?
Best Chinese delivery in West Hollywood?
Hands down...China Catering on Beverly Blvd. at Sweetzer. Best Chinese food I've had since leaving San Francisco. Everything I've ordered there is delicious. Their delivery service is super fast and they take credit cards.

Corn Beef Hash, Who does it right in LA/OC?
The best CBH I've had in Los Angeles is hands down at Fiddler's Bistro Bar & Grill on 3rd Street not too far from Fairfax. I have it at least every other week. You can tell it is homemade, not from a can. It's fried crisp on both sides with small bits of onion and potato throughout. They serve a HUGE portion of it with poached eggs, hash browns and toast. I definitely know CBH and I promise you won't be disapointed. Great staff and great food.

Any recommendations for good chicken fried steak? And by good I mean it doesn't taste like processed frozen meat. In the Koreatown area but I am willing to travel.
Best Burger in Los Angeles
I second the B and R Burger. I had one last Friday and it was excellent. Hand patted burger, the meat was very crumbly and fresh. Kind of like a burger you make at home but 10 times better.
Milkshakes at scoops?
Made a trip last Friday and had a scoop of Maple Walnut. One word.....devine!
Best BBQ in LA?
I have to agree with the Texas BBQ King as being better over Phillips BBQ. I found Phillips to be mediocre at best. The BBQ King's sauce is also killer. It's been many years since I ate a Dr. Hogley Wogley's but when I did sample their menu I was very unimpressed, barely edible.

I just returned from my glorious and food-filled vacation in the San Francisco Bay Area. On my way back to LA, I stopped in Pescadero at Duarte's (Chowhound suggestion) and had the most amazing crab melt. Filled with dungeness crab, mayo, swiss cheese and green onions on buttery sourdough.
Anyone know where I can find a similiar sandwich here in the southland? Will travel.
