Best fresh cream cheese (flavored and plain) in Nassau Long Island
I'm sure Russ & Daughters sells a fine cream cheese that's much better than Philly, and who knows, Bagel Boss might too. But I don't think either establishment brings in milk and actually makes cheese in the back. That's a pretty big production, and I think they'd need to be licensed by the state. Even "fresh"mozzarella on Long Island is always made from commercial curd, usually Polly-o.
But hey, I suppose it's possible.
Best fresh cream cheese (flavored and plain) in Nassau Long Island
I'm unaware of anyone making fresh cream cheese on Long Island. Do they sell Breakstone's Tem Tee whipped cream cheese in California? That's pretty darn good and you wouldn't have to schlep an insulated tote on the plane. I don't even think Russ & Daughters in the City makes their own cream cheese...
mcf: What say you?
fish taco [Long Island]
Gotta agree. Green Cactus Grill (11 locations Island-wide) makes a really good fish taco.

Lake Pavilion, new Chinese in Flushing
So, pchan911: How would you characterize the food, regionally?
Lake Pavilion, new Chinese in Flushing
First impression is Cantonese / Hong Kong--the menu is very seafood heavy, there are the fish tanks out front, etc., and there didn't seem to be a critical mass of specialties from any other regions besides Peking Duck, shrimp in spicy Szechuan style, etc. But an expert would probably be able to walk in and know instantly where these guys are from.
Lake Pavilion, new Chinese in Flushing
Lake Pavilion opened earlier this week in what used to be the Palace Diner, at the corner of Main Street and the LIE. Now looks very grand with a vast menu. Way too crowded to get into last night. Has anyone been?
sufflok county clam hunt
Search this board for scores of posts about Snowflake. Homemade and fantastic. Lots of interesting flavors but I think soft-serve chocolate is pretty perfect.
I second proposal for you to go to Legal.
sufflok county clam hunt
Not sure where you are RlinLI but there are belly clams at Legal in Huntington, Southold Seafood Market in Southold, Buoy 1 in Riverhead and Westhampton, Bostwick's in East Hampton. Coll? Help us out?
The best steakhouse on LI
Here's a good place to start, though it focuses on Suffolk:

In Nassau you're looking at Luger's or Bryant & Cooper, I'd imagine.
Peach Boards on Long Island ??????
Rolling Pin Bakery (Setauket and Bay Shore) makes something that sounds like a peach board, though it's round. I know they have them in season; not sure about now.
Kosher Turkeys
I bought a Kosher Valley turkey from Whole Foods last year and have never seen so many feathers. I spent over an hour plucking that bird. Stick with Empire.
Southern Italian in Nassau County
Trattoria Diane in Roslyn is mostly focused on Roman cuisine and it's excellent. And, frankly, most Italian restaurants that call themselves "Northern"...what are they talking about? There's no place on LI to really enjoy the cuisine of Lombardia, Piemonte, Veneto, Friuli-VG, etc.--not to mention central Italian regions (Tuscany, Umbria, Emilia-Romagna, etc.). I think if you can find a good Italian you should consider yourself lucky!
Also recommended on North Shore, Stresa in Manhasset, whose menu has hints of owner's home town of Piacenza in Emilia-Romagna.
East Hampton Eats?
Turtle Crossing is closed. There is a ton of Hamptons info on this board, in fact there's a thread just a few inches down:

Suffolk County....Where can I buy???
I'd give both of them a call and I would expect that Cor-J could certainly get them if they don't have them on hand. Keep us posted.
Suffolk County....Where can I buy???
Scunge where you at? Any good fish store should be able to order them. Asian fish markets may well have them on hand.
Suffolk County....Where can I buy???
Affirmative. Don't know about their cakes and pies, but between the breads that they make on the premises and the ones that they bring in (Bread Alone, Eli's, etc.) I think they're one of best bread sources on LI. I've also had no better bagels on LI than Fairway's mini bagels.
Suffolk County....Where can I buy???
Any Middle Eastern grocery will have canned fava beans. This Turkish place also has halal butcher so might have offal:

Seafood/Pub type place other than Louies near Pt Washington?
Louie's got markedly better in the fall of 2010 when Ron Gelish took over the kitchen. He left a few months ago but the new guy has a pretty good resume. When was the last time you were at Louie's? If it's been a few years you might want to give it another try. Then again, they have no pool table. Then again I don't think there's a seafood-centric pub with a pool table with that's going to have very exciting food...
Gret Neck, LI eats
A bagel sandwich with bacon? A shonda! Stuartlafonda you crack me up.

non-pork soup dumplings
I don't think there are any soup dumplings--pork or otherwise--served on LI since Shang Hai Pavilion in Port Washington closed. Anyone have a source? As for non-pork, even the so-called "crab" soup dumplings I've had have been pork with crab...

Cafe Sport (Portuguese in Williston Park, Long Island)
Jim, for what it's worth: I recently met the newish owners of Bakers of All Nations, the Portuguese bakery, and when I asked them where they eat Portuguese food, they said Cafe Sport.
