Jersey City Beergarden
Has anyone tried the new beergarden, Zeppelin Hall, in Jersey City? I haven't had a chance to get out there yet but am curious about chowhounders impressions. Thanks.
Good eats in area of Brodie / Slaughter / Wm. Cannon / Manchaca
Thanks for all your responses I can't wait to try out some of these places. I did mean Culvers not Carvels (looks like I have been living in the northeast for too long :)).
Swimming Hole
My husband and I are going to be visiting Austin soon and I am trying to plan a fun daytrip. I think that we would love a morning of swimming in a beautiful swimming hole followed by lunch at some really good BBQ / TexMex / Hamburger joint.
So anyone know of a great lunch spot located somewhat near a really good swimming hole? I am hoping to find something within an hour from South Austin.
Preferred ambience would be dirt floor with patio tables, maybe some live music - something along those lines. Nothing touristy like Salt Lick.
Good eats in area of Brodie / Slaughter / Wm. Cannon / Manchaca
I will be visiting Austin next week and staying in the neighborhood bordered by Brodie Lane, Slaughter Lane, William Cannon and Manchaca.
Would love any and all recommendations for good eats in the area: store-front bbq; taco carts; hamburger stands; fast food joints (I like Carvels); etc.
John Mueller BBQ Closed?
I am going to be visiting Austin next week and heard a rumour that John Mueller BBQ is closed but may have a new location. Is it closed? Is there another location? Thanks.
Salt & Pepper in Jersey City
Monteleone's has great wedding cakes.
Not that you have suggested that you are getting married anytime soon, but we bought our wedding cake from Monteleone's. It was really cheap, around $125 for a cake for 100 people, compared to the estimates we were getting from other bakeries in Hoboken and New York City which were from $10 a slice on up.
The cake was delicious and beautiful - and the ladies at Monteleone's are sweet and funny.
BBQ Chicken and Beer
Has anybody tried "BBQ Chicken and Beer" in Chelsea? It looks pretty garish, but I heard that it is Korean barbeque chicken (which I have been wanting to try).
Uses for cream that has gone sour
Is there anything to make or cook with cream that has gone sour? I have a pint of very good quality cream that I wasn't able to drink before it went sour and I hate to throw it out. I know there are things like sour milk pancakes, does anyone have a recipe or an idea for sour cream?
Alternatively, if I just leave it in the fridge for a bit longer will it just turn into sour cream? Or am I dreaming?
Places to eat in the NY Catskills?
We ate there over Memorial Day weekend. She said she had just opened for the season.

For an interesting experience and good food, try Yvonne's Homecooking, which is a french restaurant located in a little red house on Route 28 outside of Phoenicia (a few minutes drive from Margaretville). It is very easy to miss as it is sort of tucked away from the road.
The decor and the service are fairly eccentric but the food was quite good and cooked with care. The restaurant is in a little old house full of knickknacks and the ceiling is covered in old quilts. The place has been around for something like thirty years and is run by an elderly french woman who I am guessing is Yvonne. The service was slow but very sweet.
There was a salad bar located at the front that looked pathetic but was quite good, and had a couple of cold bean dishes that were delicious. We also had very good stuffed mushrooms and a pan-fried trout. They serve wine and beer, but also may be BYOB (as it looked like some diners came in with their own bottle of wine).
The menu was interesting both for the food and the little admonishments not too take too much food from the salad bar. All in all a very homey and unique establishment.
