Aux Lyonnais in Paris is one of the best. Can't choose only one! Frisee salad with lardons and poached eggs, chicken livers, lamb chops. Also dumplings at Dumpling King in Melbourne.
My current drink of choice:
coteaux de languedoc (mas julien, les etats d'am '04; a pretty cheap Rose (Les Jemelles or something like that) from Berkeley Bowl. I can only have a couple of glasses of wine a week so I don't pay much attention to wine anymore
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
Poulet au Vinaigre with tarragon vinegar
My favorite comfort food:
Smoked pork chops, sauerkraut, carrots and potatoes with hot mustard
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
Aux Lyonnaise, Paris, Vik's Chaat Corner, Berkeley. Roosevelt Restaurant, Nice; Nopa in SF; Luka's for soup in Oakland, Restaurant at Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado
My most tattered cookbooks:
Mastering the Art of French Cooking by J.C.; Eastern Vegetarioan Cooking by M. Jaffrey; ALL of Paula Wolfert's cookbooks; J. Oliver - his first 3 books; Bittman's How to Cook Everything; The Rose Bakery - Breakfast, Lunch and Tea; and Ken Hom's East Meets West
