Wanted: delicious poppy seed (mun) cake in NY

It would be amazing if people didn't respond to this post because nobody knew where to get a decent piece of mun (m-uh-n) cake. BTW, mun cake is same as poppy seed roll cake. I was looking for more local bakeries in the outer boroughs or NYC, though I might try the 2 bakeries in LI mentioned in the other post, Zomick's & Steinberg's. P.S. The bakery I mentioned before on Lee ave. was Sander's.

RANDAZZO'S dazzles

I've been going to Randazzo for years. The scungilli is comparable to Vincent's in NYC but the portions are much bigger and a lot cheaper. I went to Randazzo's on Tuesday. My friend had the stuffed shrimp which was perfectly cooked (al dente), and I had scungilli w/ hot sauce, which was not rubbery. The sauce is delicious(dark red and thick) but it wasn't as hot as usual. I also had the clams, which are fresh. There was a grain of sand in one of 'em that could have been rinsed. I had the fried calamari the last time I was there with a relative and we both thought it was very good. It is possible that there could be a consistency problem but I always recommend the restaurant for authentic italian seafood.

Wanted: delicious poppy seed (mun) cake in NY

What bakery has the best mun cake in any borough of NY or LI? Bakeries change owners or whatnot, so I'm looking for a new place. I am familiar with the bakery in Kew Gardens on Main St and Rego Park. The quality of Gertels (LES) changed since they distribute it in supermarkets. I found a bakery on Lee ave that sells the old fashioned mun cake with a lot of mun. Any other suggestions?
