Great steak in Omaha

After reviewing some of my fellow Chowhounds suggestions on where to eat I tried Piccolo Pete's Restaurant last night. One word; Awesome! I was a little worried when I pulled up and there were easily eighty cars along the street and their little parking lot but decided to press ahead and try and get in anyway. They got me in at the bar (at my request) immediately. The bartender was great and poured a nice drink. I had their fillet, with hash browns (a new experience) and the green beans. That steak was so tender and juicy that it easily shamed any other steak I've had here in town.

I can see why Piccolo Pete's is so highly regarded by the locals... a very fun place to eat with a great staff and food and very reasonable prices.

Great steak in Omaha

I wanted to pass on my opinion of two great steaks that I had recently in Omaha.

Sullivan's Steakhouse; $$ - $$$; The food was terrific and the waitstaff was very helpful in their suggestions. The location downtown, near the "old market" area was convienent and the parking was okay (but they do have a valet). Tables were available both in the dinning area and on the patio with live jazz in the bar area. The bartender was very good about selecting a bottle of wine within my budget and accomodating to my taste. A great place to take that second date.

Johnny's Cafe; $$; Once again the steak was spectacular and the waitstaff was great. What it lacks in ease of locating is more than made up for in the friendly atmosphere and the genuine desire to give you a great dinner. I went on a Wednesday evening and just caught the end of a twice a month wine tasting that looked really fun. This place will remain on my "return list".

I'm eager to hear my fellow chowhounds ideas about this place or any other steakhouses in the area.

Great classy bar in Longview?

I'm going to be in Longview in a couple of weeks with a small group and would like to know if anyone knows of a great classy bar in the area. Looking for a place that would be okay to take both guys and girls in my group, so a little bit of everything -- wine, cocktails, beer. Ideal would be someplace quiet or piano so we can enjoy both the drinks and conversation. Thanks everyone (in advance).

Crabs & seafood neat Chantilly / Fairfax, VA?

Bob,
Thank you for a great recommendation! Took some friends there for dinner on Wednesday and we all enjoyed it very much. The place is casual, unique and very crab-house if that is a decor style. The food: We had everything from a dozen large males ($60) to snow crab legs ($24) to the mixed crab plate ($28) and they were all filling and tasted great--nobody walked out hungry. Service was also great: the staff was friendly, willing to answer questions, and was prompt with refills of our libations (always a plus with crab).
Anyway, thank you again for the great recommendation.

Dear Chowhound friends,
I need a quick suggestion for great crabs at an inexpensive price around here. I'm not familiar with the area but I do have a map. My group is 5 or 6 and we are looking for a fun atmosphere.

Chantilly / Dulles area Brazilian or Argentinian?

Thanks both to linda971 and dpan for your replies. Five of us went to Texas de Brazil last night (Tuesday) and had a wonderful experience. The selection of meats were plentiful, cooked to perfection (except the lamb imo), and were regularly around with more of what we liked. The wine selection was extensive and we found a great Argentinian red that pared great with all the foods... from the salad bar to the meats.

Overall wonderful experience that was a huge success for my guests and me. Thank you again Chowhound.

Chantilly / Dulles area Brazilian or Argentinian?

I am coming into town for a couple of days with friends and we are looking for a Brazilian or Argentinian steakhouse near Chantilly (rather than driving into D.C.) We looked in the yellowpages but may have missed one...

Any help would be appreciated.

Family friendly recommendations for late June...

I am looking for restaurant recommendations for two days/nights at the end of June. These are my limiting factors:

* I desire family friendly atmospheres that won't also drive the adults crazy.
* Seating easily for a group of 6 - 8
* Food selection satisfying for kids and grandparents...
* Near Garden District or public transportation accessable...
* Ethnic, contemporary, or regional fare are equally okay...

Thanks for the suggestions (in advance).

Dinner for 1?

You're absolutely correct with Ray's the Classics... had dinner there on Thursday based on feedback from this forum. Tonight, I ended up driving around and found Hard Times Cafe in College Park. Service was okay as was the food... Thanks for the idea though.

Dinner for 1?

Are there any really good, neighborhood type establishments in the Rockville - Silver Spring - College Park - Greenbelt area that serve up great food along with a clientele that doesn't mind an interloper?

Steakhouse near Greenbelt?

Thanks, I'll have to give this one a try next time in town.

Blues bar in Logan Circle!!?!

You are correct that it is called the New Vegas Lounge; 1415 P. St. NW. I stopped by tonight (Thursday) hoping to catch some blues but the door was locked. The neighborhood is very nice with some other good spots to sit and idle away some time. Parking was a bit of a pain, but easily overcome around the corner.

Steakhouse near Greenbelt?

tfbrennan...
Outstanding suggestion! The food and staff were great and the deal unbelieveable. I sat in the bar and had the chopsteak special for $15 including salad and two sides. The meal was complemented by a great "dirty" martini as well as a glass of wine. I would recommend this spot to anyone.

Wow, that does sound like a great deal... thanks again.

Steakhouse near Greenbelt?

Thank you very much... it sounds like a fun place.

Steakhouse near Greenbelt?

I actually don't mind a chain but I do prefer local establishments. My main desire is for a really great steak. All the other items are bonus in my opinion. Thank you for your reply.

Steakhouse near Greenbelt?

In town on business and looking for a good steak near Greenbelt. I am willing to go into DC but would like to avoid that tonight if possible. Preferences: great steak, nice atmosphere, someplace where I might find a "dinner friend" to talk to rather than my book, and within 30 miles. Thanks in advance...

Any Brazilian / Argentinian steakhouses in Baltimore area?

Thank you.

Any Brazilian / Argentinian steakhouses in Baltimore area?

I am in town on business and have a burning desire for the churrascaria experience. Are there any of these in the greater Baltimore area? Thanks for any help.
