I have had some OK food in a couple casinos but that seems "hit or miss" usually. You are driving in a vast, mostly empty space.

Grand Junction: new and good

I haven't spent much time here in several years so I hope the intervening years have been kind restaurant-wise. Last time I was there, 626 on Rood was quite new and pretty darn good. I am hoping some of the local food sourcing has caught on. I will entertain anything from a diner to the nice joint. Good Mexican would be nice also. Thanks.

Vancouver to the Okanagan and back

Yes, in between Vancouver and Kelowna. I am going to do a separate post for my time in the Okanagan.

Vancouver to the Okanagan and back

I have reviewed multiple posts about the trip from Vancouver to Okanagan and back and found little of value, e.g. there is not much hope in Hope, Merritt has slim pickings, etc. Any new news? I arrive at YVR at about 3:30PM. I figure that by the time I clear customs, get the car, etc there is not much sense hoofing it all the way over but I don't want to eat swill either. Thanks, Tom

Vancouver: Coal Harbor (near convention center)

Thanks for all the good replies. LotusRapper, I appreciate the Canadian efforts at defying the cultural and language hegemony emanating from your southern border. Tom

Vancouver: Coal Harbor (near convention center)

I did a search and cannot find anything recent. Looking for decent lunch nearby. Any cuisine (almost); price not an issue. Will be there at conference for 5-6 days. Coming from California so Mexican not needed. Thanks, Tom Hall

Please speak to me about the Seattle side oysters then. I appreciate your sentiments about hating, etc. Makes think that you care and I will consider the options. Thanks.

Where should I go for raw oysters? Happy hour value a plus. I want Dungeness crab also. I prefer a simple preparation or will take out and prepare myself. Coming from out of state. Thanks, Tom Hall

I did a search but I find it hard to tell what is really NEW Mexican. Thanks.

I will also be willing to drive to Albuquerque for something really good.

looking for "real NEW Mexican" in Santa Fe

I have been to New Mexico and Santa Fe about 15 years ago. I loved the New Mexican food. I see that Santa Fe has a much greater number of restaurants now, many of which are "international" such as French, Spanish, Italian, etc. I would the real stuff and not the Tex-Mex, Cal-Mex, Mexican, etc. Please help. Thanks, Tom Hall

Needed downtown Denver: farm to table restaurants; places with lots o' beer; pig ears??

Thanks. You, sir, are correct about Falling Rock: an overwhelming number of beers. I will take a look at The Kitchen.

Looking for the better farm to table places in downtown area. Also looking for places with lots of craft beer, particularly draft. Some CO beers is a plus. These do not have to be the same places.

And what is with all the pig ears anyway?

Denver near convention center in March (no car); small rem

Coming to Denver for the first time since the late 1970's. I will be going to a meeting at the convention center. We will be staying at around 22nd and Glenarm Place (I now see it is close to Five Points - hoping some things have changed).

I will need lunches close by the convention center and will eat most things. For dinner, we would like some nice places to eat at. Again, we will eat any cuisine but some of my favorite places are the New American cuisine. My wife is a carnivore. A decent wine list or lots of draft beer choices are definite pluses. We are planning a visit to Barolo Grill in Cherry Creek unless the naysayers are overwhelming. By the way, is corkage allowed in Colorado?

In the (very) old days, we would eat at Leonardi's for "cannolis" which were really calzones (I think it was sort of/kind of somewhat near Wahington Park), McFann's on Capitol Hill for prime rib sandwiches (a poor man's prime rib dinner) and the Satire for beer, Mexican food, beer and some more beer. No money but pretty good times.

Thanks for the help. I try to report back.

What is good near the Orpheum Theater? Any cuisine is fine. I was considering Zuni provided that it will remain open. (RIP, Ms. Rodgers.)

NYC foodies in Umbria/Tuscany

Yo David, Not to be a Richard or something but it takes about a half hour to a couple hours for each of those searches if one does them more or less reasonably well. And some of those searches don't exist in an expectantly useful time frame so one has to go offsite (from CH). Just sayin' and not hassling you.

wine storage

My cellar is overflowing "unfortunately."

wine storage

I live out in the Central Valley so going to the peninsula would be a real hassle. Thanks everyone.

wine storage

I need a place in the East Bay (including Livermore, Pleasanton area) to store about a 100 cases of wine. I don't know of any in that area. Thanks.

Help dining in the boonies at junction of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio

We will be in the area (10-15 minutes away) for a couple weeks, so I assume we may well try both probably a few times. Thanks again.

We are staying very close to where these three Italian regions meet. We are looking for dining out (probably more lunch than dinner if it is farther away) and places to shop for dinner ingredients and wine. We will have a car and willing to drive for a good meal. Looking for the real local authentic kind of food and not fancy international restaurants. Thanks.

Thanks to both of you. That should be perfect for my cassoulet needs.

Santa Rosa/Healdsburg: hoping for cassoulet or Dungeness crab

I will be heading that way next weekend and have a hankering for either cassoulet or Dungeness crab. Ideally both but obviously not at the same meal. Places to try appreciated. Thanks.

Astoria needs

Well... the wine list. I only mentioned it because that "may" be a sign that things are not working correctly. You resolved that issue. Thanks.
