Aged beef?

Winters Family Beef. Cedar Park Farmers Market nearly every Saturday and Mueller Farmers Market nearly every Sunday. Order online by Thursday/Friday and pick up at the market that weekend. You won't find better aged beef in Austin, anywhere.

Perfect Margarita

I use reposado (Cazadores) for blanco, substitute Paula's Texas Orange liqueur for the triple sec (it's 80 proof), cut the lime juice down to 1/2 oz. and add a dash of agave nectar. Delish!

Best Austin tamales?

Gardener's Feast tamales at the SFC Farmers Markets. Outstanding chiapaneco tamales in banana leaves -- chicken, prunes, mole sauce, plantain and olives, encased in fluffy organic masa -- so scrumptious, you'll think you died and went to heaven! Order in advance!

Looking for #10 can chickpeas

Need to make hummus for 100. Does anyone know a store that sells #10 cans of chickpeas (garbanzos)? Thanks!

Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza in Austin?

Austin has plenty of joints making decent NY style pies but I've found nothing in Austin even remotely resembling a Chicago-style pizza--not even a freaking Uno's. The closest Chicago-style pie I know of is a 3 hour drive away: a Star Pizza deep dish pie in Houston.

best ceviche in Austin?

Fonda San Miguel's Ceviche Veracruzano is the best in Austin, $10. If you want to save a coupla bucks, El Chile on Manor has a decent tilapia ceviche; $6 for the small or $8 for a large. I'm eager to try Tacodeli's (Aus Chron Critic's Pick for Best Ceviche in their 2007 Restaurant Poll).
