NYC's Underground Japanese Eats

This just reminded me of a place across from where I used to live on E 10th about 15+ years ago. I was in 221, there was a small Japanese Club across the street. I had no clue what went on in there, but your description sounds like it could be very similar.

Spiritos Elizabeth Ravioli

I'm going to have to try my hand over the weekend making homemade ravioli. Does anyone know how they made their filling so creamy, and dough so pillowy It's been a few years since I've gone there, but out of all the food to come out of NJ, I wish I could recreate them!

Woori Mart Opening today in Northvale

Since Northvale is right on the border of NJ/NY I thought it helpful to let those in NY know that The Woori Mart is having their grand opening in a new much larger location. It looks like there will even be a mini food court. I find overall their produce and fish to be much better than the Shoprite next door. http://woori-mart.com/

"Cooking Block" What Do You Do?

I think I am recovering. Cooked a few good meals as of Friday. Got to keep it up. Thanks for all of the advice. My advice if it happens to anyone, write down a list of meals you enjoyed in the past. Think about meals you ate out and try to replicate them, and try to relax about it.

"Cooking Block" What Do You Do?

We recently moved and have been eating out for 2 weeks, which is why I am really anxious to get cooking good meals again!

"Cooking Block" What Do You Do?

Thanks! I also belong to a What's for Dinner page on FB. Part of the problem now that I am thinking about it... My DH gave up dairy, and fried food, eats seafood, no meat or chicken, the kids eat some seafood, like dairy and meat. Nothing is simple, always a challenge to satisfy all.

"Cooking Block" What Do You Do?

Like "writers block" I think I have "cooking block". I'm a decent home cook, but lately for the past few months, I've lost the savoir faire I used to have when it came to whipping up a tasty meal. I just flounder around the kitchen, Can't think of what to cook, and get very flustered. Anyone else experience this? I need a remedy!

How to eat Hainanese chicken rice

Would you share your recipe on home cooking page? Or post a link to a good rendition? I've only had it when dining out but would love to make at home.

Rockland County Happy Hours

Glad you gave it a try, you really can't beat it for the money.

Golden Corral coming soon in Freehold

I agree with what you saying but it's not the point I am trying to make. Have you ever eaten something that may not have been the best quality but enjoyed it just the same? My favorite fast food is a jack in the box taco. It's a good thing there aren't any nearby, I'd be in trouble. Are they good food? No but I would drive a good distance to have one. The GC I went to had decent fried chicken and really good fried chicken livers. Id love to have them along with an ayce salad bar (providing it was clean and we'll managed)

Golden Corral coming soon in Freehold

There is an entire section devoted to Chains on Chowhound. It's all about finding something you like and really enjoy. If they had something I really enjoyed at this GC you bet I'd be there in a heartbeat regardless if 80% is not up to snuff. I haven't been there, but I'm willing to give it a shot to find out.

I haven't been to this GC, but I have found things I enjoyed even though they are not "good cuisine" at the one in Royal Palm FL.

White Castle's Sriracha Chicken Sliders and Crispy Jalapeno Cheese Fries.

Sometimes eating these things is like jumping into a cold pool. You just gotta do, it and can't think about what you are doing. I read some bad reviews about the slider, perhaps I just got lucky. I'm going to have to jump in one more time to be sure.

Rockland County Happy Hours

I remember looking into it, but I don't think they have the special prices as good as CF, I found the link for theirs. Not too bad, but not nearly as much to choose from. https://www.bonefishgrill.com/content....

White Castle's Sriracha Chicken Sliders and Crispy Jalapeno Cheese Fries.

Had one yesterday, and it was pretty tasty for a joint like White Castle. If you put them on a plate and served them at say the Cheesecake Factory, one would never know they were made at White Castle. Good amount of spice, the jalapeno cheese adds another kick. Worth the purchase if you are at a W.C.

Rockland County Happy Hours

This is an offshoot of a discussion that began on the Where to Eat in the Palisades Mall Thread. http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/349994 There are a few places in the mall that have decent happy hours, most notably, the Cheesecake Factory. From 4-6 there are a few specialty cocktails, wine and beer $5.00 each. They are the same drinks one usually pays 12+ for. They have a selection of apps, full size for $5 each. Pretty good deal. Looking for others in Rockland.

Where do you eat at the Palisades Mall?

We've only been to the ones in the mall. Well, Baily's has a happy hour, they just put out a tray, usually wings or mozzarella sticks, and drinks are a bit reduced. Nothing to go out of the mall for. I'd love to know some other good ones too. Let's start a new thread!

Where do you eat at the Palisades Mall?

We went back to happy hour again last night at the Cheesecake Factory. Once again it was a great deal.
