Salt Wine Bar a real find! tapas for canivores. We will be back!
Had dinner at Salt on Friday night. First time visit for us and we loved it!!
Had six dishes between two of us, a martini, 3 glasses of red, coffee & dessert wine and the bill was $120 before tax & tip.
Favourites of the night were waygu beef crudo, serrano croquettes, cod quenelles and a short rib sandwich. Also tried the grilled calamari and foie gras special but both seemd to lack falvour.
Service was great and our server even suggested a few places for drinks after.
Will definatley be back, especially for the salty chihuahua martini!!!
Tundra at the Hilton
Has anyone eaten at Tundra recently? I was looking at it for xmas eve dinner.
Thanks
Food-grade bags for Christmas goodies?
Dollarama usually carries cookie/candy bags. Fairly decent size & come in plain or printed.
Try in the xmas section.

Vertical offers a wine region inspired menu - $45 for four courses $60 with wine pairings
Pizza and Wings from one resto or chain?
I second Wing Machine. Wings & pizza are both good and they have a really good curry mango wing sauce.
Sushiman
Had take out from John's Sushi Bistro on Friday night. Very good, found it to be fresh and generous portions. Will go again!
anniversary dinner
What about Table 17? prix fixe for $29 and bring your own wine (no corkage)
They do a good steak frites on the prix fixe menu.
Downtown-East Brunch Spot?
The menu at Pico is virtually that same as Toba. Been for dinner & brunch at Pico and enjoyed them both.
Elora
Heading to Elora & Fergus in November, having never been before I am looking for some dinner suggestions. Any must try places or even places to avoid?
Thanks
What's your most disappointing dining experience?
La Maquette
I knew this place was going to be old school but it was worse than I thought!
Food was OK, nothing special and very over priced. I ordered the lamb medium rare and it came out grey! Everything came with bland whipped potatoes. Wine list was pretty main stream. Service mediocre.
I'm not sure how this place wins award for the most romantic in the city!! Maybe I was missing something.
Pico
Went on Friday night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The last few times at Toba had been disappointing but Friday night my faith was restored.
Hope they keep it up!
Monday Night Birthday dinner
I would sugget Table 17, not sure if they are still doing prix fixe menu in June but it's a nice local, cozy reso with good food & wine. Also PicNic & Joy Bistro.
Xmas day dim sum?
Does any one know if Sky Dragon is open on Xmas day? Would I need a reservation?
Any one been downtown for dimsum on xmas day?
Thanks
Sweet Smoke in Oakville
I'm thinking of heading to Sweet Smoke in Oakville next weekend. Any reviews?

JKWB Is not far away on church street.
JKWB busy on a Thursday night?
JKWB started taking reservations recently. Just give them a call and make a reso!
BAking Supplies (INgredients Please)
I have found gelatin sheets in St Lawrence market, towards the back in the middle (near the bulk place). You have to ask for it as they sell the by the sheet from a big pack, I think they are 4 sheets for $1.
Liquid glucose I have seen at the bulk barn at Leslie & Lakeshore.
Distillery District
Looking for somewhere on Friday night, was thinking about Mill St pub, does anyone know how bust this place gets on a Friday night?
Gelatin sheets
Does anyone know where I can purchase gelatin in sheets? I've only been able to find it in the powdered form but prefer the sheets.
Thanks
Near St Mike's
Can anyone suggestion a place to eat near St Mike's hospital? Would prefer somewhere not too busy.
