Best places in Lower Manhattan that you can always get a table / same day reservations.

capsouto freres is a nice looking place, best for brunch i think. I never have a problem getting into any place downtown except for babbo or Nobu ,, but next door to nobu is fairly easy,,tribeca grill always has a table, circle rouge bistro atmosphere not a problem to get in,,Upstairs cooks late and no reservations are taken so can get a seat within 30 minutes,,,odeon can always eat at the bar area,,, ennio and michael great italian food in the village not fancy but good place..

Best lobster roll in the city?

The original lobster roll was at nathan's coney island, cheap and good and hot. Cyril's in east hampton has good lobster roll at half the price of Mary's,, Mary's lobster roll is good but $28 bucks for a lobster roll is as big a rip off as ive seen . You can get a nice big lobster at francisco's on 23 rd st. forget the lobster roll.

What is your best local restaurant in NYC...

boulez upstairs,,in tribeca,,, across the street from the "real" boulez. no reservations, small place, they cook in front of you ,,its crowded,They cook in front of you ,and they have a small great sushi bar as well. I recommend the scallops or the halibut. And from the japanese part i recommend anything kaiseki. An added perk, you may sit a foot away from a movie star.

hardest reservations to get?

Rao's all the tables" belong " to people. they all have their night whether it's wednesday , thursday , etc. If someone with a table isnt showing up you can be sure a friend of theirs will show up. The food is ok at Rao's, the roasted peppers are great ,,but you can get that at their sister restaurant run by Frankie Pelligrino from Rao's on 49th st. many things are the same as Rao's even the upstairs tries to look similar. Masa you can go to the bar.

Chinatown the cake lady used to be on mott and mosco in a ittle booth 6 for a buck,,now i think you can find them on bowery around doyers st. Alot of corn beef or pastrami at Katz's Deli,,the buck is the tip but it will get you an extra sandwich worth if you tip first.

wolfgangs downtown you could go casually dressed also. The steak is great and offer more than Luger's. Blair Perrone is also good in a nice atmosphere. I was suprised so many knew about Keene's i thought it was my secret spot,,,The pipe collection is amazing , includes babe ruth, sitting bull and teddy roosevelt,,, the mutton chops are the way to go at Keene's ,amazing.

Tough Chowhound challenge - Upscale/non-stuffy/foodie celebration dinner

Dont go to Landmarc, Craft is good but not gourmet. I agree on Toqueville it's ok but nothing to write home about. Jean-Georges is where I'd go, it's stuffy but could be dealt with. Bouley or Danube maybe...Le Bernadin I havnt been to in years but was good back then. Del Posto I havnt tried , but maybe you will and tell me how it was.
Buddakan is huge and loud, the food mediocre but a 12 million dollar renovation ,is always a nice place to checkout.
