FOODIE'S 30th Birthday Dinner Suggestions, PLEASE!
Rivera downtown and Playa are both fantastic and the food is plated really fun and interesting. I think Playa has a private room upstairs.

Inexpensive Wine
I'm having a party in May, sort of a mediterranean vibe and am looking for good, inexpensive (below $10 a bottle) wine to serve. Red and White and a Prossecco. Any ideas?
Santa Barbara Cake
I'm having my 50th birthday party up in Santa Barbara and am looking for a great bakery for just a simple white cake (like a really good wedding cake) with lemon curd filling. Besides Jeannine's does anybody have any recommendations?
Susan Fineger's Street-- nothing to write home about
Wow! I've been to Street on many occasions and have nothing but wonderful food and service.
Need Macaroon Help
I like the ones at Bottega Louie. I'm not sure if they make them there aor get them from somewhere else, but they are always fresh. I had Paulette's in Beverly Hills and they were a bit stale.

Christmas Day Brunch
Anyone know what's open on Christmas Day? Looking for some place nice to spend Christmas with some friends. Valley, Pasadena, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica or any place in between.
I'm in need of a place for a special occasion dinner.
Culina in the Four Seasons is a beautiful restaurant. Is Geoffrey's still around? I remember that being a really romantic place.

Fried Pickles
The Smokehouse in Burbank use to have them on their Bar Menu, but I'm not sure if they do anymore.
MAY is National Burger Month(?): any suggestions (current please)?
What about Umami Burger? I've heard good things about that place.

Sweetsalt Food Shop (Toluca Lake)
I've been to Sweet Salt half a dozen times and I love it! Today the soup was Tomato Citrus or Pear Bisque with Blue Cheese crumbles on top. I just love the soup/sandwich/salad options. Granted you MUST be here before noon or it gets crazy. I have only experienced the rude service once and I believe it was the owner's wife, but all in all it fills a much needed void in this area.
Malibu Lunch Spot
Any ideas for lunch in Malibu? Anybody been to the Reel Inn lately?

Looking for a place to have a small birthday celebration (6 to 8 people) for sunday supper. Any area.
Gathering for Memorial
I need a restaurant/hall for a gathering after a memorial service for around 75 people. Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks/North Hollywood area
Zankou Chicken....TERRIBLE
I've never had a problem with the Van Nuys restaurant. I mean, it's always hot and crisp and juicy and I probably eat there at least 2 or 3 times a month.
Please help me with anniversary dinner!
AOC is fun, but a bit noisy, Luques is good and has a patio, Osteria Mozza is nice, Jiraffe in Santa Monica is great, for more casual dining I like Border Grille in Santa Monica.
Good Luck! You have a lot of great suggestions from everyone!
pasadena recs, please?
Vertical Wine Bistro is great. They have a killer wine list and small plates to share.
Hi. New to LA and looking for a good place in Santa Monica (entress below $30) any favs?
La Serrenada on 4th is really good Mexican and across the street is Border Grill which is great too. Also fun is Chez Jay on Ocean Ave, but they can be pricey for a dive bar.
Boneyard Bistro Strikes the Perfect Note Again
I've always liked Boneyard, although the last I was there I was a little disappointed. I do love the beer list and the greens are out of this world! I use to live in that neighborhood and boy do I miss it! Great restaurants within walking distance, what a dream!
