cuisinart hand blender model CSB77

My wife bought me a Viking VHB300SG hand blender for X-mas and we've found it to be very versatile. I believe it was around $120.00 and it came with a free chopper attachment. The on button is a little clumsy at first, but becomes easier to work with the more you get the hang of it.

Cauliflower-Parsnip Soup with Beet Crisps

I made this tonight, with a few successful amendments:

Chicken stock instead of water, black pepper instead of white pepper (I was all out), and bacon crumbles instead of beet chips.

My two year old son ate 3 bowls.

Basic Turkey Stock

Before freezing, we usually skim off the layer of hardened fat after refrigerating the stock overnight. Then we divide into quart size portions (recycled yogurt containers) and freeze.

Madison WI, Recs Needed

I second the suggestions for Magnus and Jolly Bob's, and here are a few links for a pretty good range of great places to eat:

Incredible - Hook's 12 Yr Old Sharp Cheddar - bought at Madison Farmer's Market

Outpost Co-op may have it. Carr Valley Mammoth Cave Aged Cheddar is a good one, too. (Though it's no Hook's 12 year).

Anniversary Dinner in Madison

Lombardino's is awesome. Do dat.
