Gateway Dinner to Wine Country

As for Wine Country, I'm more familiar with Sonoma than Napa. My favorite restaurant is The Girl and the Fig. I just tried The General's Daughter last weekend...it was fantastic, but is second to The Girl and the Fig.

Gateway Dinner to Wine Country

I used to go to Vino Venue all the time because a friend of mine used to work there. It's fun because you're always trying something new, but it's difficult to converse with the people you came with because you're constantly walking around getting more pours. And, more often than not, the only education you get in the process is reading the description above the bottle. I also find the seating a bit uncomfortable. Two places I've tried in the past few weeks that I really enjoy are District SF (in SOMA) and Amelie (Russian Hill). California Wine Merchants is also a great choice.

What is Low Country Cuisine?

Another low country staple is She Crab Soup. It has the same regional relevance as a good bowl of clam chowder does in New England. A good recipe will spice it up with just a dash of sherry before serving. So, so good. A nice bowl of hushpuppies is also very worthwhile!

Getting off the plane at 5.....next stop?

2 Chowhounds from San Francisco will be visiting 3 friends and are looking for a good meeting spot for a mid-range $ dinner with drinks. Any suggestions of places with easy access from the airport?
