Late to the party's Profile
Like Blue Hill at Stone Farms
My wife and I are heading out to Sonoma/Napa for a week in early May and are looking for a restaurant which showcases local food and a wine list with producers who respect artisanal techniques, ingredients come from nearby farms. (Like Blue Hill in NY, if you've been) We've done research but now to the experts. I would greatly appreciate some suggestions.
Thank you.!!
Drinks after Babbo - HELP
That's a good point. Hadn't really thought about the NYU aspect. L'Angelo does sound like you'd be getting the authentic Italian experience
UES Mayor coming for visit and need Recs for higher end places!!
UES, Try the Grill 23. 2 big bars, huge martinis. Its the steak restaurant in Boston, but the menu has plenty of great seafood options.
Engagement Party Venue for 30 ppl?
Try Buddakan. I was just there for a large party, not 30 but large. Sharable plates. Good drinks. And they have a huge communal table in the middle.

Drinks after Babbo - HELP
Hey All,
Need some help. Celebrating my 5 year anniversary this weekend and we are going to Babbo. It's mostly because we haven't made it before and its a place we've always wanted to try. (Feel free to weigh in on the tasting menu)
Needless to say, our reservations are at like 6. Which leaves plenty of time to drink and be merry afterwards. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions for places nearby for drinks, dessert, etc.
Thank you all in advance!
Going to Garden any ideas for good cheap dinner before
I agree with Bostonbob3. I've been to DJs and the food was much better than expected. I had short ribs. MMM. I can;t believe it used to be a Hooters
Rooftop Bars
I know this typically pops up every year, but what are the best rooftop bars? Is it 230 Fifth?
Bachelor Party
The more I read and hear about it, I believe Buddakhan will totally fit the bill. I am loving the suggestion of Buddah bar but it may be too many Buddah's for one to handle. Thanks for the link to the blog.
Expensive Steakhouses like KO Prime
I've personally found that the Grill 23 is the best steak house for a celebration; whether it be a romantic dinner for 2 or for a party of 8 or more. And its not a chain.
Chef sitings at Yale Appliance
Don't know, but just noticed this in the paper. The chef from Grill 23 is going. Doesn't seem like something he would do, so I am inclined to think that they are putting on a good show.
Help a fellow Hounder
I feel compelled to follow up on this posting and mention that we went to Telepan and had an absolutely great meal accompanied by great service and attention. It was perfect. My fear was unfounded.
Bachelor Party
Looks like we'll be an 8 top. Personally, I love GT. My wife and I have been a number of times. I am not seeing it for this occasion. Looking for a mix of good food but casual atmosphere/service in case anyone gets out of hand.
Bachelor Party
That sounds intriguing. Would that be a good place for drinks after dinner, as well?
Bachelor Party
I like the Strip House suggestion, but for some reason a steak joint has been excluded by the groom.
Bachelor Party
I'd also love some input on Death & Co, Pegu Club, Little Branch and/or Milk and Honey as a post-dining destination.
Bachelor Party
These are great suggestions. One that came my way by a non-hounder was Buddakhan? Has anyone been?
Bachelor Party
Disclaimer. This is a BP for a 40 year old bachelor who is finally taking the dip. All other attendee are married and NOT looking to go the traditional BP route. Additionally, the bachelor is a foodie. Therefore, we are looking for some solid recommendations for a destination which combines great food and atmosphere. Most attendees are from Manhattan (the bachelor and I are not) so we'd like to hit a newer establishment. I truly appreciate all suggestions. Thank you.
The "Palm Move" [moved from Manhattan board]
This was recommended by a Manhattan poster as a way to get into Babbo without a reservation. It was more involved than that, but still...
Help a fellow Hounder
Thank you for the thoughtful repsonse. Our weekend is wide open, which is a double edged sword. A Voce may just fill our desire to relive a recent trip to Tuscany.
I notice a lot of hounders are "reading" you. I will be too. THX again
The "Palm Move" [moved from Manhattan board]
Does anyone believe that palming the Maitre D a $20 really works?
Yes, I am attempting Babbo with no reservation-help please?
I just can't see how 20 bucks is going to matter if they are booked, you know
Yes, I am attempting Babbo with no reservation-help please?
Does anyone else agree with "the palm" move? I agree with everything else that Cpalms said, except the move? Comments?
