Decent Port, $25 - 35ish range?
I don't know much about wine and I'd like to give some port to my boyfriend's parents for Christmas (I know they both like port) along with a cool wine stopper.
Can anyone recommend something in the $25 - 35 range that is respectable?
Bread Baking Help
I am a novice baker and I just bought The Bread Baker's Apprentice by Peter Reinhart. I want to make his whole wheat bread but am a bit confused by the flours required: (1) a coarse whole wheat flour and (2) a high-protein whole wheat flour.
Does anyone know specific brands that I could use for this? I looked at King Arthur's website but I'm not sure what the difference in coarseness is between the different types of flours (think I've figured out the high-protein though).
Thanks!
Your REAL thoughts on super-processed, horribly delicious food...
I can't believe no one has mentioned White Castle yet! I don't even want to know what they're made out of (I've heard beef baby food factors in there) but I could pound about 10 in a sitting if I'm left alone with them. Luckily and/or unfortunately, I now live at least 100 miles from the nearest White Castle and those frozen ones you can get in the grocery store do not cut it.
Roadtrip: Madison, WI to Fort Collins, CO
In a couple of weeks three friends and I will be driving from Wisconsin to Colorado to visit college friends. We will be taking I-80 the whole way through Iowa and Nebraska (unless the flooding in Iowa is too bad). Anyone have any good suggestions for food pit stops along the way? About the group: we're all 24, I'm the only "foodie," although everyone appreciates good food, and due to the fact that we'll be paying an arm and a leg for the gas, we're probably not looking for anything too fancy, just some good roadside stops. Thanks!
Good Mexican in the Chicago Burbs?
Thanks to all for your recommendations. We ended up going to New Rebozo (Oh my God!) and it was very good. I had the green pumpkin seed mole enchiladas and they were excellent. We will have to work our way through some of the other recommendations!
Good Mexican in the Chicago Burbs?
I'm looking for a good Mexican place to take my parents to in the Chicago suburbs. Price is not really a factor (we like everything from incredibly cheap to high-end) but it has to be in the suburbs. Even though I know there is tons of great Mexican in the city, my parents will refuse to go there. If it's close to the La Grange area, that's a bonus. Thanks!
