Review: Ranch House Grille - Phoenix (w/ photos!)
Excellent news. Spicy Tortilla time!
Good Mexican near Phoenix
we have lunch there once in a while as it close to my office. it's quite good, straight up Sonoran food, with good chimis, taco, etc. chips are free and plentiful, little sports lounge in the front. it's solid, family fare, if not overly inventive. good red sauce! also in this category is Ajo Al's and Macayo all right along Bell. All of them are good, but Al's has the better Rita's.
Personally, i'd go to Richardson's as suggested above. it's a cut above.
Best Sausages / Hot Dogs / Hamburgers for grilling - large bbq
try Stanleys on 22nd and McDowell. they do polish sausage right
Best Sausages / Hot Dogs / Hamburgers for grilling - large bbq
German Sausage Co on 48th and IS still has good brats, knocks, weisswursts and franks. But
I like the southwestern options at Schreiners especially the pork/jalapeno sausage they sell at Rich's. Great on Kaiser roll with provolone and green chili.
Olive & Ivy for Corporate Group Dinner (12-15ppl)?
i think it would be OK< though maybe alittle loud, also consider Herb Box right across the canal, or 5th & Wine, or Eddies House just a couple blocks away
Phoenix Restaurant Recommendation
Richardson's is the answer. just off the 51 so straight shot to the airport after dinner.
best New Mexican food west of albuqueque. i'll be filling up at Devour all day at the art museum as well though.
best pizza?
I'll secomd Grazie, and suggest La Grande Orange for a nice sourdough thin crust, or Tommy V's on Camelback as well. Cibo is great if your downtown. If I had to chose. Grazie for total experience and best Italian wine list

The new Richardson's is open right next door to Rokerij. Both menus available and nice new patio shared between the two restaraunts. Victor usually cooks on the Rich's side now, so we lean that way when we go in. Parking is free valet now since it is so tight. Crowds are much thinner now that the extra seating is open. This is a definite rec for the poster. Rich's is worth a drive from anywhere in the country. :)
4 days in Scottsdale
Close to the hotel for nice dining are Eddie's House for comfort food with a meditteraen twist, or Marcellino for high end Italian, Citizen, FnB, and Cowboy Ciao for creative, foodie fun.
There are a couple of breakfast places on Scottsdale road, Daily Dose, and Breakfast Club. These fill up quick, also check out Arcadia Farms for a nice bistro brunch
Scottsdale Culinary Festival--Thoughts?
The picnic is fun, but the food is pretty typical street food, not usually foodie material, but alot of good tacos, sandwiches, bbq, etc. Entry is one fee and tickets for the tastings for a $2 each. The beer fest is adjacent to the picnic and is a separate entry fee, tickets for tasting there as well, though a good tip to a bartender and the drinks flow freely.
The ticketed events and dinners are more for foodie dining experiences with local name brand chefs. The wine brunch is OK, usually a resort bufett. I think the best deal is the Cooking events over the weekends in the cultural center. wine, demos, tastings, less of a crowd.
The party tents at night are club style drink action, with alot of see and be seen vibe. Fun if you're into night club scenes, but not if you don't like crowds.
Pls review my Scottsdale rest choices-what am I missing?
Also Cafe Monarch in that area does good brunch/lunch

A good place in Scottsdale to grab a good meal and watch March Madness
The Mastro's in North Scottsdale would be good, or to stick with the golf theme the Grill at the TPC has good food. Also an option for your last golf outing. Play the desert course ... And stay for dinner at the clubhouse or go up to the Princess resort for BourbonSteak
Dim Sum in Phoenix/Greater Phoenix Area
Can't say great, but the two places that come to mind are Golden buddha at the Chinese cultural Center and Great Wall over on the west side. Great Chinese is a little hard to come by in town.

Recommendation for affordable, very good group dining
don"t mean to be overly cautious about the walking, but it is not just the distances. that neighborhood is industrial and pretty rough just away from the hotel. I'm from a so-so part of Chicago, and I would hesitate to hoof it very far in that area. take the shuttle or the train.
Recommendation for affordable, very good group dining
that area is not really walkable as mentioned, but within a few dollars cab ride there is also Italian at Red Devil (casual) and Avanti (fancier), avati can do a private room.
Mill Ave Options?
LaBoca pizza has nice lite Utalian food and pizzas, decent wine list as well.
definitely worth a stop
Oreganos closed?
a lot more space there, I hope they keep the cathedral motif in the back room :)
Oreganos closed?
they have a store just north of there on Shea, and one in Tempe. Probabaly just closing one with less seating
Hunt: Any breakfast and lunch "restaurants" at the airport that aren't vomitoria?
best breakfast inside security is the Jody Maroni's on the lower A gate concourse. they make a andoullie and egg breakfast burrito that is really tasty for just a hot dog stand. if you are stuck insude security I recommend it.
Recommendations for Thanksgiving Dinner Out?
eddie matney's will be open from 11-8 and is doing thanksgiving menu in house and take out. also serving full menu. tried their stuffing the other day and it was awesome.
Arizona restaurant week
did two steakhouses, BLT and Arrowhead Grill. both solid values and we eat at both occasionally anyway. BLT stuck with steak, jalepeno mash, green beans, the gruyere popovers and roasted beet app also set a nice tone. AG we mixed it up with BB ribs and a pork porterhouse the size of my head. definitely best value found this time. sides were solid as well with nice cream corn and green chile mac. worth a stop next time!

Chinese at Camelback & 35th Avenue?
they used to do good dim sum. but I haven't been there in years
Scottsdale for 5th Anniversary
Staying close to the Phoenician and assuming a drive up 44th to Camelback to get there ..
Lunch on way in = The Vig nice pub with good patio, should be cool enough by October
Anniversary dinner - Marcellino (Great Italian), Eddie's House (Meditteraen) or BLT Steak at Camelback Inn
Saturday night - Roaring Fork, 5th and Wine, or Grazie Pizza
Sunday outbound - Breakfast Club, or Herb Box in old town
Also recommend a drive to Richardson's on 16th street as an option for any of thesem but that would be a good size cab fare

Best option near Jobing.com Arena
that's a bit of of trick. the arena is in a relatively new "entertainment zone" development and there are nothing but chains in the complex. check the Westgate web page for a full list.
there are some options in downtown Glendale like Haus Murphys for German food. or some independents up around the Arrowhead area like Arrowhead Grill for steaks. my advice is to grab lunch at Richardsons/Rokerij before the game and then head to the arena. bit of a drive, but worth it.

Guilty Breakfast Pleasures
I've had some good meals there, but we pretty much order breakfast basics and burgers. Never had anything I'd call flat out terrible. What didn't you like?
Guilty Breakfast Pleasures
The Brioche sandwich at Bertha's cafe, with salami and pesto instead of bacon, best sandwich ever. 32nd and Indian School. The chorizo breakfast quesadilla at any of Richardson's stores, or their eggs bene with the jalepeno hollandaise sauce. (swoon). The carne asada and eggs at Taylor's cafe on 44th and C-back. and the salami egg bake at Original Pancacke house with potato pancakes on the side. now I'm really hungry.
