No, if you look at history, the Northwest territory did _not_ include PA. All historical evidence/maps have OHIO as the eastern most point of the midwest area. Today the US Census bureau still does not include any part of PA as 'midwest'. Having been both a New Yorker and New Englander, I never once heard anyone every say that PA was 'midwest'. or Pittburgh for that matter.

I lived 7 years in Wisconsin and spent a lot of time in Chicago and some time in Minnesota. No 'pamela's pancakes' unless you think those are like 'Swedish' pancakes they have a Ann Sather in Chi town. You betcha that Pittsburgh is not midwest. I also grew up in NY and lived in New England (CT and Boston). OHIO is where 'midwest' starts. PIttsburgh is much more Appalachia/East coast, than midwest. Where did you live in the midwest?

As someone who lived in the midwest for 7 years, Pittsburgh is not Midwest...

Downtown/Pearl restaraunts-eat at the bar?

Hi,

I'll be in town for a conference starting tomorrow and I like to sit at the bar (or in front of the kitchen if its an open kitchen) to have lunch/dinner. What places would you recommend where I could do this, Wed-Fri? I haven't done much research, but I'm definitely thinking Clyde Common. I like all types of food, ideally looking for good food in a friendly/interesting atmophere.

Thanks!
