California Coast Road Trip - Any Suggestions?

Near Half Moon Bay, Cafe Gibraltar serves delicious pan-Mediterranean food. Influences from Spain to Lebanon are mixed into an always-pleasing menu.

Tamales Dulces for Christmas (Salinas)

Ooo, ooo, ooo! Tamales in Salinas. Thank you, Melanie. I'm already indebted to you for Gutierrez & Rico, now I'm going to have to try Sr. Valdez' tamales. Are they available year-round? Is there okay truck-and-trailer parking? I usually go to G&R after a day of fun at Laguna Seca.

Duozo, or Shiki, or .....?

I want to send a gift certificate for sushi dinner for 2 to my college-attending son. He's semi-sushi-literate, and I've searched this board looking for affordable choices. So far, Duozo and Shiki seem to be the leading candidates. Are they appropriate and good? Are there others I should consider? It needs to be near a T stop and not break the Bank of Dad. I was thinking of spending $100-120 for food only.

Please give me your suggestions and thoughts.

Where to chow and watch Champions League?

Where in SF should we go to eat and drink well while watching this Wednesday's Champions League Final soccer game at lunchtime? Of course, it's AC Milan v Liverpool, so North Beach might offer something. Are there any good bars with a knockout lunch menu?
