A. J. Rathbun's "Luscious Liqueurs"

I was excited when A. J. Rathbun’s publisher sent us a copy of his latest book, Luscious Liqueurs. His previous book, Good Spirits, has gotten a lot of love at CHOW. The new volume is smaller but more appealing, with its recipes for making your own liqueurs and infused spirits. It’s divided into five categories: citrus, fruit, nutty and spicy, exotic, and “sweet tooth” recipes. I hope to test out the hazelnut liqueur, and maybe the cherry liqueur, too, since my freezer is stocked with fruit from a friend’s tree. There’s also the Irish cream liqueur, which sounds like a nice DIY holiday gift.

You can lightly squish those cherries- preferably pitted-- drop them in a glqss, and fill the glass with a fairly low-end tequila (by that I mean Cuervo Classico, which is perfectly suited for this), and enjoy. I dare you. Raspberries and blackberries work too.
