San Francisco Bay Area
Places I want to try. This would be a private list but that function doesn't work.

1.
The Refuge
963 Laurel St, San Carlos, CA 94070
The pastrami? It was as good as everyone here says; it is pastrami on another level. I've never had pastrami like it
-
2.
King Wah Restaurant
209 Southgate Ave, Daly City, CA 94015
-
3.
Coconuts
642 Ramona Street, Palo Alto, CA 94301
the chef appears to be the same guy who runs Back-A-Yard in Menlo Park
-
4.
La Casita Chilanga
2928 Middlefield Rd, Redwood City, CA 94063
- the tortas here can stand up to tortas in DF. the bread they use is not ordinary french rolls, and is far superior to any torta roll you'll find in any other restaurant/bakery in RWC. the owner has them specially made by some bakery that doesn't normally do mexican breads. go there and order any of their tortas (my personal favorites are the milanesa, the pork leg and the black forest ham)

5.
Arteaga's Starlite Supermarket
812 5th Ave, Redwood City, CA
they have a huge assortment of homestyle soups, guisados and potato-filled goodies. the kind of stuff that you don't normally see at restaurants, because restaurants usually just stick to tacos/burritos/etc

6.
Aguililla Market
3250 Middlefield Rd, Menlo Park, CA
seriously this is the best carne asada i ever had in the bay area. and i mean carne ASADA (grilled), not beef that is cooked on a griddle
-
7.
Mack's BBQ
1754 Laurel St, San Carlos, CA 94070
Mack's beef brisket is one cut where the meat comes through strongly against the smoke. The mac n' cheese has house-smoked slab-bacon bits
-
8.
Culture Organic Frozen Yogurt
340 S California Ave, Palo Alto, CA
The high quality and number of toppings stands out here.
-
9.
Reposado
236 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94301
Reposado finally brings the Silicon Valley area a wider-ranging menu in a Mexican restaurant. At last, a place where not every single dish is served with rice, beans, and/or tortillas!

10.
Tootsie's at the Stanford Barn
700 Welch Rd Ste 118, Palo Alto, CA
The main entrance is on Welch tigelle of Modena. The tigella’s nice for the small appetite, but far outshone by the outrageously good chips. They’re thick cut and fried to a crackly golden brown. The sea salt and sprinkle of fresh herbs makes them irresistible and a must-order.
