SF - Restaurants with a view

San Francisco Bay Area

Usually good view=mediocre food. However, if you must have a view, here's a few ideas <br><br> A few more casual places include <br><br> Buena Vista for an Irish coffee <br><br> Pier 39 - skip it. No view is worth eating that overpriced mediocre food. If you must, Crab House is probably the best option. <br><br> Waterfront dives where you can pick up a inexpensive burger or breakfast while soaking in a glorious view include Red's Java House, Java House, Hi-Dive, Jelly's, The Ramp, Pier 23, Mission Rock Cafe <br><br> Somer restaurants with limited peek-a-boo views include Town's End, Delancy Street. Seal Rock Inn, Delancey St, <br><br> Restaurants with nice view but are casual and have bar or counter seating include Hog Island, San Francisco Seafood, <br><br> Some other casual options include Gordon Biersch, Cellar 360, Perry's on the Embacadero <br><br> There is a nice lounge at the top of the Marriot

  • 1. Slanted Door

Ferry Slip, San Francisco, CA 94111

Contemporary Cal-Vietnamese. One of the better options. It has a nice view and good food. The restaurant itself, however, is modern, stark and noisy.

  • 2. Top of the Mark

Number One Nob Hill, San Francisco, CA 94108

There have been some positive reports about brunch.Sitting at the top of the Mark Hopkins Hotel which is on top of Nob Hill is a nice place for a cocktail.

  • 3. Waterbar

399 The Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA

Spectacular views. The food reports have been mixed and it is very expensive.

  • 4. Epic Roasthouse

369 The Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA 94105

Located next to Waterbar, this restaurant also has a terrific view and is probably the better choice. It is also very pricey and there have been some unenthusiastic reports.

  • 5. Cliff House

1090 Point Lobos Ave, San Francisco, CA 94121

Located on the Pacific at Land's End, there are three restuarants. Until recently when George Marrone took over the kitchen at Sutro's none would be recommended. The Bistro has over-priced average food. The popovers are good. Skip the Sunday brunch in the Terrace Room.

  • 6. McCormick & Kuleto's

900 North Point Street, San Francisco, CA 94109

Spectacular view from Ghirardeli Square but this restaurant is best for cocktails and the happy hour specials. The food at this national chain is average and too expensive for what it is. It is often chosen for business lunches and dinners.

  • 7. Scoma's Fisherman's Wharf

    47 Pier 45, San Francisco, CA 94133

while the best bet is to enjoy the view and skip the food at Fisherman's Wharf, Scoma's is one of the better choices for a combination of better food and view. It is mainly a view of the marina rather than the Bay. Stick to the fish that is caught by Scoma's fleet. High prices and mediocre sides.

  • 8. Bistro Boudin

160 Jefferson St, San Francisco, CA 94133

There's a nice view from this upstairs bistro and better food than most Fisherman's Wharf restaurants. Still, not worth going out of the way for unles you must eat at the wharf.

  • 9. La Mar Cebicheria Peruana

Pier 1 1/2, The Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA 94111

  • 10. Boulevard Restaurant

1 Mission St., San Francisco, CA 94105

There’s a spectacular view of the Bay Bridge from some of the seats in the back of Boulevard. Most tables don’t have a view. Another good choice for a combination of good food and view.

  • 11. Carnelian Room

555 California St., San Francisco, CA 94104

Located on the 52nd floor, with windows that overlook the city and bay. Unfortunately the food doesn't match the view. Very overpriced and very average.

  • 12. Delancey Street Restaurant

600 Embarcadero St, San Francisco, CA 94107

There is a little view of the bay from some tables and the outdoor patio. Good, if not exceptional food. Brunch is their best time.

  • 13. Ferry Plaza Seafood

1 Ferry Building, San Francisco, CA

Just a lunch counter serving soup and sandwiches. Great view of the bay.

  • 14. La Terrasse

Lincoln Blvd and Graham St, San Francisco, CA 94129

The view is set back and across a parking lot but it is panoramic. The food is on the expensive side and not as good as the view. Lots of easy parking.

  • 15. Boulettes Larder

Ferry Slip, San Francisco, CA 94111

There is one communal table. The view of the Bay Bridige is beautiful. Casual California cuisine.

  • 16. Beach Chalet Brewery & Restaurant

1000 Great Hwy., San Francisco, CA 94121

There's a nice view of the Pacific, but unfortuantely you have to order the mediocre food.

  • 17. Greens Restaurant

Fort Mason, San Francisco, CA 94123

Wonderful view of the bay and Golden Gate bridge. However, time has passed by this vegetarian restaurant. I

  • 18. Chaya Brasserie

132 The Embarcadero, San Francisco, CA 94105

There's a nice view from the front room.

  • 19. Hog Island Oyster Bar

Ferry Building,, San Francisco, CA 94111

Seafood bar with a great bay biew.

  • 20. Butterfly

Pier 33, The Embarcadero at Bay Street, San Francisco, CA 94111

There's a nice Bay View but the food is disappointing.

  • 21. Town's End Restaurant & Bakery

2 Townsend St Ste 2, San Francisco, CA 94107

There's a limited Bay View from some tables at this moderatley priced restaurant serving California Cuisine. Breakfast and brunch is the highlight here.

  • 22. Alioto's Restaurant

8 Fishermans, Wharf San Francisco, CA

One of the better Fisherman's wharf choices. Nice view of the bay and Golden Gate Bridge.

  • 23. Waterfront Restaurant

7 Pier, San Francisco, CA 94111

Beautiful view but it more of a business meal type of place. The food is ok but overpriced. A new chef may be chainging that.

  • 24. Crown & Crumpet

900 North Point Street, San Francisco, CA

English Tea room with some nice bay views.
