A Passion for Food and Passion
What happens when your love affairs and marriages are based on a shared passion for food? For Stephanie Klein, food and romance were inextricably intertwined: “My memories are enhanced by the tender morsels had at tables across from lovers, on blankets with friends who’d eventually become more, in banquets, barbecues, and breakfasts.”
As a result, between boyfriends, she would be “thin, single, and miserable,” existing on a diet of sushi and health food. When she found love, she would relax and grow expansive, enjoying her life with all her senses, including taste.
She shares her experiences on NPR in an amazing excerpt from her new book, Moose: A Memoir of Fat Camp. The book goes a little deeper into the reality of being an adolescent grappling with food issues than other pop culture about fat camps.
