Jericho Fans Go Nuts
In the grand tradition of “Save Our Show” campaigns, fans of the recently canceled CBS show Jericho have started bombarding the network’s offices with food products. Specifically, peanuts.
Saddened Roswell fans sent bottles of Tabasco to the WB offices (Tabasco was the preferred seasoning of the aliens on the show; they dumped it on everything) in an attempt to resuscitate the teen-alien drama. Then there were the Farscape fans, who sent flattened cracker boxes inscribed with the insistent “Crackers DO Matter,” which was a reference to one of the most popular episodes of the series.
Peanuts only became associated with Jericho in the final episode of the series, but the outraged bellows of “NUTS!” can be heard ’round the Wide, Wide World of Web. The sentiment is, of course, “Nuts to you for canceling our show!” but the idea is to let CBS know just how many Jericho fans it had out there in the dark.
At this point, it looks as though the campaign of sending cases of peanuts, Styrofoam peanuts, and pictures of peanuts might be working to some degree. The following response from CBS was posted on its website:
We have read your emails over the past few days and have been touched by the depth and passion with which you have expressed your disappointment. Please know that canceling a television series is a very difficult decision. Hundreds of people at the Network, the production company and the incredibly-talented creative team worked very hard to build and serve the community for this show — both on-air and online. It is a show we loved too.
Thank you for supporting Jericho with such passion. We truly appreciate the commitment you made to the series and we are humbled by your disappointment. In the coming weeks, we hope to develop a way to provide closure to the compelling drama that was the Jericho story.
Meanwhile, the nutty mail-order website NutsOnline has made it easy for Jericho fans to send their packages of persuasive peanuts.

Hey, sweat -- as the TWOP recapper of the show, I totally support what you guys are doing. I'd love to see Jake, Stanley, Mimi, and especially the awesome Hawkins back on my screen.
I'm glad you liked the article.
We appreciate your support more than you know. Watch for Nuts arriving in NY tomorrow at CBS & more to CNN in Atlanta.
Save Jericho!!
Thank You for posting obout our fight to save Jericho.
NUTS CBS!! Save Jericho!
Stephanie, this was an interesting article.
Next time you cover something "newsy" -- I know this is a food blog and not a newspaper Web site -- that you are intimately involved in, and you link to a review that you did (instead of other available sources), please let us know your connection in the post, instead of as an afterthought in the comments.
Full disclosure and honesty lends credibility.
I've never seen the show, but I think it's cool that protests can bring shows back occasionally. Hey, it worked for "Family Guy."

I wanted to let you know that YouChoose also has an active petition to Save Jericho. We also allow signers to create their own personal page in support of the show. As we are the first social network to combine networking with activism, we would appreciate your support and a change in your link to our petition on YouChoose.
