Desperate financial times may be the key motivator in an ongoing series of pig thefts in Minnesota and Iowa, reports the New York Times. Another factor: Unevenly monitored factory farms far from human eyes make the offloading of dozens or even hundreds of large farm animals attainable without detection.
Tie this together with a boom in cattle thefts, an epic tomato hijacking, and a guy stuffing beef down his pants, and it appears we're facing a seriously delicious crime wave. And/or a national case of the munchies. And/or the beginning of the end of Western civilization.
