Seems to me that you went to a horrible IHOP. I'm not really defending them, it's just, if the first thing you notice is that the bun isn't even the right one for the burger, that's usually a bad sign as for how the rest of it's made.
As for IHOP, most of their food sucks, but at 3 in the morning in a small town, it's either that or Waffle House, and IHOPs tend to be cleaner and have less...+READ

It doesn't seem so much that the burger was *bad*, rather, it was simply a let down. Promised Bacon Armageddon, got much less.
If its bacon-y goodness (or lack thereof, coupled with mediocre cheese, tomato and lettuce) is that much in question, I suppose dining in wouldn't have made much difference? I'd still caveat that getting takeout from a primarily sit-down style restaurant doesn't exactly do it justice...
They don't call it ISLOP without reason.
Wow, a bad burger from the Int. House of Corn Syrup. I think it's smart marketing but their food has always been mass produced crap.
