The Hungry Beast has a revealing interview with Guy Fieri this week that unearths some interesting nuggets. To wit:
1. He owns a T-shirt cannon.
2. He is going on a national tour “in a bus stocked with Pabst Blue Ribbon and painted with flames.”
3., 4., and 5. “He now travels with a bodyguard to events, has bras and underwear thrown at him during cooking demos, and counts Sammy Hagar and members of AC/DC as close friends—no wonder he speaks about himself in rock-star language.”
Whoa. Visit the Hungry Beast to learn about Fieri’s other quirks, such as naming dishes things like No Can Beato This Taquito and Mac-Daddi-Roni Salad.
I think the chefs who own restaurants take away from up and coming chefs who really need the exposure.
The majority of the "next foodnetwork star " have their own restaurants.
wow, pastisfarce, good rant. and i totally agree about the Friday's thing.
the only thing i hate about guy fieri's shows are the fact that this dude with spikey blonde hair and an annoying orlando-florida demeanor hosts them all. if he were to leave the show, then i might like them. diners, drive-ins, and dives is a good show, but that dragon-shirt wearing douche has to blabber on the whole time. he has specials at FRIDAYS. how can we move towards a more interesting...+READ

Guy represents the mordern day cook1 i like his style of show, but i would like to see a show where more technique is used but still on the edge.

My grandmother always mentioned Pabst Blue Ribbon beer and how good it was, never got a chance to try it. I think Guy Fieri is the spice that the food network needed to keep it going, move over Bobby Flay. Everyone has crazy things about them, that is what makes them uniqe. I missed Guy Fieri at the Metropolitian Cooking show in DC Nov 7-8, I could not make it out there as a vendor this year but...+READ
