Does Dog Food Taste Better Than Spam?

Given the choice between “duck liver mousse, pork liver pâté, two imitation pâtés—puréed liverwurst and Spam—and Newman’s Own dog food,” only 3 out of 18 tasters correctly identified the dog food, reports the Los Angeles Times.

In their defense, most of the tasters did spot the dog food as the worst tasting of the pâtés.

Also: Newman’s Own makes some good stuff, across the board. Who wants to bet that the taste test might have come out differently if we’d been talking Purina?

(Cue fusillade of angry email from Purina publicists.)

  • My dog eats his own poop. I don't think that dog food is designed to appeal to my tastebuds...
