Kim Alter’s Go-To Snack

This episode of My Go-To Dish features Bay Area chef Kim Alter. Kim's worked at Ubuntu and Manresa, and she's now opened her own restaurant, the Plate Shop, in Sausalito, California. To make her late-night snack your own, see the recipe.

In My Go-To Dish, meticulously trained chefs, hardworking food-industry folks, and even, sometimes, famous actors show us their delicious, reliable, and easy meals. It's how they get dinner on the table quickly after a long day. Remember: They're just like us.

  • Hi Bratdawg. This might not match exactly what Kim used, but here's CHOW's version of preserved lemons:

  • There a recipe somewhere for the preserved lemons?

  • Holy salt, Batman.

  • Ooh! I love her use of preserved lemons. I'm always looking for ways to incorporate them into my cooking. Nice!

  • Green beans are great for breakfast too!

  • She's got that meat cleaver "at the ready"

  • I think she is hot!! Eat the beans!!! that gos for you weekend "nutritionist" and you too u fashion diva!!!!!!

  • Fat doesn't MAKE you fat, excess calories make you fat- which can be from adding lots of oil/butter/whatever to your food- her green beans looked tasty, I dont see why she would have needed to use more oil... especially for a snack

  • What's the deal with the close-up of Miss Green Bean's shoes?

  • Please people, don't leave out the fat. That whole thing about fat making you fat has been thoroughly debunked.
