Vertical Farming

Dickson Despommier, a professor at Columbia and unofficial father of the vertical farm, has been popping up all over recently. Popular Science put out a great graphic detailing how Despommier thinks a food-producing skyscraper in an urban setting would work. And Despommier also survived an interview on The Colbert Report. Others have had the same idea, so hopefully it will only be a matter of time before you can say, “These are 65th-floor heirloom tomatoes.”
