Wake Up and Smell the Bacon

Destined for mass production, if there’s any justice in the world: a wooden pig-themed alarm clock that wakes its owners in the most humane way imaginable—by cooking a piece of bacon under two halogen lamps, thereby filling the room with the aroma of breakfast done right.

And you’ve got to love this mission statement:

Waking up by force is physically and spiritually jarring, but we must do it nearly all the time. By interview and direct observation, we found a number of ways in which common alarm clocks could be improved.

Adding bacon = mission accomplished.

  • I wonder if the idea of this clock came from an episode of the American Office where Michael Scott grills his foot on a George Foreman grill one morning. He used that grill as his own bacon alarm clock. It was a great episode.

  • Love the wooden pig clock case. I don't doubt that this would combine fantastically with the spiffy coffee maker/toaster/egg cooker combo units that I saw in the discount store the other day. (Imagine the grease fires that'd make!)

  • how cruel.... only one piece?
