Greg Hjort of Equator Coffees & Teas shows you how to make a cold-brewed coffee concentrate that you can use in iced coffee or hot. It's less acidic than hot-brewed coffee, practically sweet. He uses the Toddy Cold Brew System.
How to Make Cold-Brewed Coffee

Friends of my mothers, who were from the Netherlands, used to brew cold coffee. They had no snappy Toddy, but merely put coarsely ground coffee and cold water in a jar and let it stand overnight. I was too young to drink coffee then, but my mother always claimed it was delicious.
While I think the Toddy system is awesome, there's no reason to purchase one if you're just making iced coffee at home. I've been making it with a large pitcher and a melitta for years (brew in the pitcher and filter out the grounds with the melitta).
Awesome How-to video Greg! Thanks for all the really positive things you said about our system. We're honored you would take the time that together. Cheers! Bill @ Toddy
Love my Toddy. "Ground coarsely" is very important, or coffee won't drain properly. Another tip: If you're doing iced coffee, sweeten your brew while it's still at room temp and the sugar will dissolve nicely. Thanks for the video.
The Toddy Cold Brew System makes great cold brew coffee. I've tried other methods, like using a French press, but the results are not the same and process is not as simple. The Toddy is so easy, there is just no substitute and the results can not be replicated. Great post Greg, thanks for posting!
No reason to buy a toddy coffee maker for this; I do the same thing with a French press and it works quite well.
