It’s Memorial Day weekend, and you probably have a barbecue, potluck, or picnic to attend. As a polite guest, you know that you should probably bring something, but what?
If you’re doing your own grilling, you could just click on one of CHOW’s many grilling articles. But bringing food to someone else’s party has its own set of challenges, mainly revolving around portability. Deb at Smitten Kitchen had everyone’s party-attending needs in mind when she gathered up 30 of her most summer-party-friendly recipes into a post titled “30 Ways to Be a Good Guest.”
Her list is definitely slaw-heavy, with a whopping six recipes for the crunchy potluck staple, from plain and simple to baroque (a delicious-sounding spicy radicchio and pecan slaw). But she also provides recipes for heartier fare as well as portable desserts.
Don’t forget to pick up a six-pack on the way, to guarantee you’ll be invited back.
