Periodic Table of Condiments

I’m willing to bet it’s been a while since you’ve seen as clever a take on the Periodic Table of the Elements as this one. The Table of Condiments that Periodically Go Bad was posted by Hillary on Chew on That, and it’s wittily presented and useful. The table apparently originally appeared in a “weird day planner,” and it tells you how long condiments will last—everything from hollandaise (one day) to Worcestershire (one year). If you tack it up on your refrigerator, people may think you’re some kind of scientific genius. At least from a distance.

  • Honey goes bad, but bacon bits don't? That's an interesting theory.

  • who can keep an open jar of nutella around for 4 whole months?

  • According to this list, I'm dead.

  • I've always seen certain condiments as living forever. What, exactly, is going to happen to soy sauce after one year? Or margarine after 6 months? Or fish sauce after 5 months?

  • since when is lox a condiment?
