Cooking over the holidays is best when it’s done with family, especially young family. Small, nimble fingers plus curiosity about family traditions makes the recipes go faster! Here, Martha Jubrey shows her grandson Desmond how to make her candied yams dish for Kwanzaa (here's her recipe).

  • The grandson could use some help with table manners but aside from that, he is just adorable. I'd be happy to add him to my family! I liked the video very much.

    I agree, this kid needs a crash course in table manners, like not starting to eat before all, (Granny), are seated; and not using the fork as a spit and chunking off slabs of food directly into one's mouth. Don't forget what the little square of cloth is for. It is called a napkin.

    The recipe may have involved a whole bottle of vodka, my memory is a bit fuzzy.

  • cute kid--a bit precocious--and old enough to know how to eat properly with a knife and fork. He needs to spend more time with Grandma. I'd never have gotten away with gnawing at something dangling from a fork at that age.
