  • Did the Time for Timer's Sunshine on a stick include cayenne pepper? The measurement sounds like a lot of heat to me, and I enjoy spice. For kids I would omit.

Enjoyed the video. Nothing like a visual recipe/tip!

  • I remember making these when I was a child back in the 80's.

This recipe is the exact version of Time for Timer's Sunshine on a stick--except jazzed up with fresh tropical fruit instead of just basic juice.

  • OMG!!! what a fuss..hasn't anyone experimented until they found the right ratio of seasoning/simple syrup etc???

  • OK, recipe is now written up and linked above! Hope you enjoy it,

  • Calm down, all. I'll see what I can do about getting the written recipe from Karen and linking it above. Thanks for your comments--I'll see what I can do.

  • I agree with saacnmama. The heading says: "How to Make Your Own Popsicles Karen Solomon, author of Jam It, Pickle It, Cure It, includes some great recipes for frozen pops in her book, including this mango-lime-cayenne version." That implies the recipe is given.

Sure, we could figure it out but what harm would it be for Karen Solomon to give us a few recipes from her book to entice us to buy it? Instead I feel like she is being stingy.

I'm a baker with a small baking business. I guard my recipes. If I were putting out a a book of them then I would share one or two to promote the book. It would give a glimpse to the viewer as to the quality of my recipes and what sort of cook/baker I am. Hopefully it would entice people to buy the book.

This approach, on the other hand, makes me want to boycott the book. Who puts out a video without giving the recipe? It's crazy.-COLLAPSE

  • No offense, saacnmama, but get real--it's a freaking tips video. They don't even give measurements--it's suppose to be a freeing experience to just have fun and experiment in the kitchen. The mango was an example. I'm sure if you and your son sit down and watch it together, you can figure out how to do it. I'm assuming, you'll be there helping and could possibly remind him of the next step.

I like the video and I really like this Karen Solomon.-COLLAPSE

  • What I think is that it's REALLY STUPID that this is a video. I'd like to print it out and take it into the kitchen with my little one. He can read, but these directions, simple as they are, will be too much for him to remember. Am I supposed to take my $2000 laptop into the kitchen, or spend more money to install a computer under the counter.
Get real, Chow! We all know you got a new video...+READ

Get real, Chow! We all know you got a new video recorder for xmas. You can stop torturing us with the multiple inane uses of it.-COLLAPSE
