I pour hot bacon grease into a coffee mug, and when it cools, I put it in the fridge to coagulate. It can then be stored in the freezer for months. Birds love this stuff! It keeps for quite a while. When I'm ready, I put my hand in a plastic bag, dig out the goo and spread it on my tree branches where I have birdfeeders. I then spread bird seed on the grease, which sticks beautifully and behold; birds, birds, birds! Now, this works best in the colder months, especially winter (I live in New England!)

Don't use too much for the popcorn! It tastes delicious, but I've overdone it on occasion and it's made me sick.
We used a coffee can too, until mom started using instant coffee!....

Bacon grease...my mother, and I do as well, always saved it in an empty coffee can...great for German potato salad and as a little "flavor" enhancer in tomato sauce...and of course for "Sunny side up" eggs! As a kid, I grew up in a home with a farmgirl mother who always had @ least 4 FireKing jadite mugs in the fridge filled with bacon grease and a Brooklyn city slicker father who never tired of bellowing @ her about having such an addiction! Ahhhhhhh, fond memories! However, she did use the grease for fried eggs, German potato salad, & anything she wanted to flavor with bacon. Great economical...+READ
